   Yes folks, we have a new moderator! Dean Ouer, a.k.a. 'dypsisdean' has graciously agreed to take on this job. Mike in Houston is taking care of the technical details right now. On behalf of the Executive Board of the IPS I would like to extend a warm welcome to Dean. Things have been pretty smooth the last few months, and let's keep it that way.    Bo-Göran called little while ago with news the server is down and may have been for couple hours (or more) Looking into the problem, seems Apache can only handle so much traffic at once and we have been exceeding that lately. There is no cure, we are bigger than the machines! Anyway all fixed now, I'll keep a closer eye on the forum for a while to make sure all is up and running and for those of you trying to out number the 'competition' with sheer number of posts, maybe slack off a while on the no content messages.    Allowable Pic Sizes

   Admin Guys, Would it "break the bank" to up the allowable pic size to 125? Some are having trouble getting under 100, and I know a lot of mine come in at 110 or so, and I lose a lot of detail taking the next step down.

   RLR, Bob (thanks to both of you) and others, What do you think about having some of the threads regarding "Soils, Fertilizers, Pests & Other Problems, SEED GERMINATION" etc., start out in the main area, THEN move to that section after roughly a month or so? I've been thinking about it and some of the threads are asking questions regarding various situations regarding palm health, but some of the "veterans" may not be perusing that area to give answers! I think a good "question" thread should get all the responses it can generate in a month, THEN be archived (more or less) in the appropriate section. Any comments? suggestions? Bill

   I am unable to edit my posts. I receive the following message. "Sorry, you do not have permission to edit that message You are currently logged in as Dypsisdean" which is the name under which I posted. Am I missing something? I have edited before without problems. Well, I just checked and was able to edit this post. Apparently it only happens in the Palm Discussion.

    I tried to add to a topic under the FAQ section, and got message saying that I didn't have permission. First, why? Second, how can I tell by looking at the topic, so I don't waste time typing? Thanks . . . dave

    Seemed like a good idea to keep all comments in the same location. I'm sure we all agree that Bob and Mike (in Houston) have done an outstanding job in getting this done in record time. THANK YOU!!! Personally I really like the look of the new forum, and even though I havn't yet had time to check everything out, there seem to be more features available on this new forum. I have two questions: I started a new thread hours before we lost the old forum with photos of two different Dypsis with orange crownshafts. Should I repost those in a new thread on the new Forum (easy enough), or will those topics be recovered? And if recovered, will they be "read only" or will we b…

    Calendar Graphic Working Now

    I've no idea why it suddenly kicked in but if you click on "View Calendar" on the main page of the forum (click the bizzie photo) the actual calendar appears with the events in bold red listed on the proper dates. Also, if you entered your birth date in your profile it puts that also in the proper slot--ALONG WITH YOUR AGE {shudder}. Then, if you click on the calendar's event in red you'll be taken to the message (in the chapter news forum) that gives more details. Kinda neat.
