This topic has been brought up before and from what I can see has been rather contentious. For example: As a fairly new user and self-considered seasoned veteran of online boards/forums, I do find the lack of subcategories in the 'discussing palms' forum... well, lacking. I understand and respect that everybody's brain works differently, and what one person considers orderly or user-friendly is different to another, and I understand the risks of over-categorising. However, I really think it could be worthwhile to create a very small number (say 2 or 3) subcategories for some of the posts that crop up regularly as a bit of a compromise. It'd preserve both ca…

I've been a life member for some years and have posted hundreds of pictures over the years. About a year or so all of a sudden I can't upload photos, even photos that have been loaded in the past. Yesterday I dried to copy a photo from FaceBook and load it here and I get the same error message which really doesn't help explaining why. I'm on Windows 11 and I can't remember if the problem started before I upgraded from 10 or only after 11 uploaded. I'll try again and take a photo of the error message and then get on my phone and using the App I'll upload a photo of the error message. Hey PalmTalkers! I would just like to throw out here that a "Currently Growing" section would be super cool to see in our profiles. You know, imagine clicking on a profile and seeing all there palms that they grow. I think that would be pretty cool. Any thoughts?

From any forum page, when I click the "Events" link on the green top nav then I am presented with error code 1S160/2 and the message, "The page you requested does not exist." I did a quick search to see if this is a known issue and maybe it's related to this but I'm not sure. If there's a better place to report site issues let me know.

I always want to know the location of the poster. It is usually very relevant to whatever the topic. What and how you grow depends so much on where you live. Could this information be displayed with the post? Maybe under the user name. I am always checking somebody's profile for location. It would be convenient if it was displayed. Any thoughts on this?

Anybody else having issues where you might or might not get a notification that someone replied to your post? I get them for some threads and not for others, and it's random. I've never subscribed or not subscribed to any threads on here. It's not a huge issue, just weird.

Good day, I am not sure how to post this but I wanted to make people aware that new member jfhury73 may be a BOT. Someone under that title reached out to me here on the Palmalk forum in the Palm Exchange and suggested that I contact someone offline for a potential Palm species. I have had several exchanges with the person offline and I am fairly sure that it is BOT. I did not go ahead with the potential order as the exchange was very suspicious . If I am wrong I will humbly apologize,but wanted to make people aware.

I come on the forum and try to search before I post questions. However, the site has a crazy search blocking timer. It keeps telling me to wait different times before I can look at the second page of the search results. I can never see the second page of the search results. Can this be fixed? It does render most of the past posts useless. Thank you

Hi, I'm a casual user of Palmtalk so I'm not hoping to offend any of the more experienced members with my post. Is it only me who believes certain etiquette should be followed in forums? With this I mean the use of basic punctuation, proper spelling,... but also not using Palmtalk as your personal blog. Some user(s) fill the forum with new threads every few minutes, some even closely related to the previous one posted. I find some of that content interesting, some other not so much. At the end, the forum ends up looking like the feed of a social media platform or a personal blog. I enjoy using Palmtalk because of everything I can learn through the valuable exper…

The cold hardy palm forum is a community where, by definition, people discuss how palms interact with cold weather events. Its is also a place where, as a community, we can come together and complain about these dreadful events that keep happening. That is what these threads are mostly about. In fact, I think for its frequenters, threads like these are among the most essential for the Cold Hardy palm community! Trying to log in using my phone and I keep getting error messages that the password for the user WaianaeCRider is wrong. Well that's NOT ME. I'm WaianaeCrider. I even went in and changed my password and still can't get in. I"ve been in before but everything on my phone got cleared and I have to log into everything all over. I'm using CROME on the phone. Keep trying to log in as WaianaeCrider but it keeps telling me password for the user WaianaeCRider is wrong. I even tried loging in as WaianaeCRider and it still gets rejected. I'm confused.

I don't know if this is where I can put suggestions, This might be something I personally want but others may want and find this useful too but having an app available on phones to be able to use the forums on mobile, I know you can log into the site on mobile browsers but it's kind of funky and it would be nice to receive notifications directly on my device and access Palm talk from anywhere on the go

is this Forum Software no longer compatible with modern phones? I’ve been trying to write posts but whenever I attach files the pictures come out black. I was really hoping that this forum could be an alternative to the Zuckerberg empire but it appears that the software is not able to upload photos from an iPhone. Attached is an example. we all know the story of the tulip mania? plant trends are rather fascinating. what's the biggest plant trend in the past 50 years? i wouldn't be surprised if it was the recent trend in houseplants that happened as a result of covid and was facilitated by instagram. personally, i enjoyed this trend quite a bit since it created a huge supply of some of the plants i've been collecting for many years, such as aroids. before this trend, when i would see ecuagenera at local shows, they sold like 95% orchids and 5% aroids. now it's the complete opposite. imagine if they had initially sold 100% orchids, then they would have been too late on the houseplant trend…

So instead of working today I spent the morning creating a dark theme for the site. Why a dark theme?
