Free seeds

Hi all, I have small quantities of the following seeds that I want to get rid of. I already have growing plants of most of them so they are really just taking up space. I can't vouch for the viability of any of them so I'm happy to give them away for free. I'm in the UK but happy to send overseas where possible but will probably then ask for a small amount via PayPal to cover shipping costs. Alternatively, if you have anything that you think might be of interest to me, please let me know as I'm open to swaps too. I'm in a 9a-equivalent climate. This has been in my raised planter for a year from a 5gal. The under sides of the leaves are silver. The trunk is a little weird and it hasn't rooted solid yet so it wobbles a little but is growing well. I am replacing it with my new Pritchardia. Your free to come over and take it! I'm digging it out right after this post. PM me is interested.

Location: Redland Bay, QLD. You pick up. Free, without pot. It wants to go in the ground. I have a Caryota ochlandra to give away. It was purchased 4 or 5 months ago in a 200mm nursery pot, but is currently in a larger pot which I would like to keep, so you would need to remove it from the pot and have some way to protect the root ball while transporting it (wrap with tarpaulin, etc). I could provide a 300mm nursery pot to use for transport, unless the root system has grown much. It has been idle over winter, so the roots may not have grown too much. It was sun hardened when I got it, and has been in full sun 8+ hours per day. I have decided that this palm i…

A few free palms - come dig em up

I'm going through the yard and removing a few palms that don't seem to be 100% happy. I'm looking to dig these up ASAP to make room for new plantings. Come and help dig them, bring a few pots and they're yours. PM for details, directions. First come, first served. Hyophorbe Verschafeltii Gaussia Maya Licuala Ramsayi All 3 of these got a bit beat up this past winter, but should recover nicely if put in a good micro-climate and given some TLC. I'd rather give them away and give them a second chance then throw them in the greens bin. I might have a couple more as well, so whoever comes to get these might end up with some more if interested.

Free posts used for shadecloth structure
by Hilo Jason- 1 reply
- 1.8k views
Rather than put these in a landfill I figured I would see if anyone here had the need for any of these posts that I made for my shadecloth structures. These are 1.5" pvc, about 7-8 feet tall each. The base of each is a 8" x 8" concrete block with the PVC pipe cemented into it. I would bury the bases so you couldn't see them and it added more support to have them buried. These work good if you are looking to cover a section of your yard with shade cloth and not just 1 palm with a shade cloth tent. Pick up in Fallbrook. I have 8 poles available, and the cross section pieces. PM me if interested.

Desmoncus sp.
by Jeff in St Pete- 5 replies

I went for a hike in the rain forest near the Naranjo River the other day and collected some fresh Desmoncus sp. seeds. These were collected on private property with the permission of the owner. According to my Costa Rican plant books, there are four species of Desmoncus in this country so I am not sure which species these are. Desmoncus is a climbing palm and is very spiny, so beware! I can send out several small packets of seeds. Please PM me with your name and address.
