That’s a pretty grow show you got going there. Being held back by certain rules and regulations regarding imports in live plant material just takes the fun out your hobby. And it also dictates the market a lot with what is locally sourced seeds for palm production. With low germination rates of imported seeds in some cases for rare and hard to obtain varieties it’s even more frustrating as a hoobby grower, not being commercial it’s the hobby grower who will obtain such rare varieties and make them available to the general public. Yet they still insist on what will grow and is proven from the commercial grower market with the chain stores dictating what is available. It’s your hobby that’s saving rare palm species by making them available and getting them into gardens, ensuring that palms survival in cultivation at least once extinct in the wild. And with you offering up these varieties at pretty well much a lose in the true value of the palm variety you’re selling. It’s only your passion for palms and that hobby that matters in a sense to palm enthusiasts who grow rare and exotic palms. Ps love the no weeds in your stock, a quality grower who knows there stuff good to see!

Go with Alexander King. They take sun and winds much better than common King. You said you like the Kentia? You can plant one under the King. Kentia will take full sun inland if you water them like King.. good drainage is a must for them. They handle up to 100°F, maybe a bit more. They will not handle frost though. But they love the cool nights.

Good old Alice Springs has a pretty good wildlife, and we are not talking about the wildlife centre either. They are pretty wild in the Alice!

Have wondered about that.. If you get over there, the A. barberae at the Huntington in Pasadena are much ( ..and that's being really conservative, lol ) bigger, yet have survived ...decades..... of big winter wind storms out there. I have noticed that the roots tend to be more fibrous, like palms ..so that could definitely help the big kids withstand wind throw better. ..Not to say they can't still get knocked down though. Where they're sited might offer up some deg. of protection too.. Regarding the Chipolte mention, i give that place a hard time because i'll hear people refer to it as their " top shelf " idea of what fast, Mexican / Mex - Tex ..whatever you want to call it food is.. ...Is " ok ", at best, esp. if your options are extremely limited ( Poor souls, lol ). Not sure what they changed years ago but haven't escaped eating from there w/out consequences afterwards since sometime in the mid - 2000s.. Wayyyy better places out there, let alone for those of us who live here, esp. down there in Tucson. My grandma used to make something akin to Pho every so often.. Was never a huge fan myself but, i get why many people enjoy it.

Nothing to add here other than to confirm you need to ditch the scheduled water and water daily! Not just once, but twice a day. You don’t need to do deep watering, as the palm roots are not yet spread out. So the best is to water then daily twice. In the morning and before sunset. Especially the first month of planting to reduce the shock as much as possible. No fertilization for now. Just maybe fish emulsion. Good luck!

Yep, I think that's settled...ID not my strength, but I blame @tropicbreeze for misleading the court your honour! Central Aus is basically one long dry season, with infrequent summer storms. Alice Springs has around 285mm average rainfall, so the L mariae at Palm Valley seem to only survive by tapping ground water along the Finke River drainage channels.

Can someone tell what this is? It looks like a Carpenteria but not 100%.

San Diego and Sacramento are different climates. San Diego has a very temperate climate. It usually does not get above 80. Sacramento is much hotter. Its possible that the fronds are scorching from the sun. I'm currently acclimating my kings to the sun by placing them in full morning and noon sun. From what I have heard once they get acclimated the new fronds will not scorch as easily, at least that's what I have heard.

Friday update: Lala = finally out of the picture after a long stroll into the N. Pacific Iselle = also off the board, but spreading copious moisture and a few showers at times into CA atm. ...What was a brief appearance by Julio = absorbed by Iselle. Next two storms on the board currently... Area southwest of Hawaii atm will likely stay there / not threaten the islands. While Lowell will likely stay a fish storm as it heads west or west northwest -ward, Likely we'll start hearing talk about Karina over the weekend.. Heck, lol, already saw something mentioned about it this morning. Essentially, with the way the WX pattern appears to set up over the west coast starting over the weekend, there are growing hints it may trigger the start to " Transition Season " ...That time of year when ...if all the chess pieces align on the board correctly, the CA ..and / or AZ... " Tropical Threats " door opens. ....And yes, ..ohh yes, lol... the WX models are all over it, ...and spinning out some pretty interesting scenarios at times. That said, as usual, potential outcomes ..currently at least... range from Karina ..and / or what systems may follow after it, sending deep surges of moisture into both CA and AZ over the coming days, most of the moisture staying - somewhere over CA ..or squarely over AZ... ..or most of the moisture staying out over the Pacific ..Not really doing much for either CA or AZ.. ...To the potential of an intact, legit tropical system slamming into So. Cal., ...or a remnant disturbance making it all the way to just west of the Bay Area. Will that happen? ...Good luck trying to figure that out atm.. A definite uptick in storms / increase in overall moisture is on track for AZ this weekend into ..at least.. the early part of next week.. Trough of low pressure hanging around over / near the west next week = Showers / storms may spread west into portions of CA at times. Other than that? ..for now at least, don't get caught up in any news related " Tropical Storm on the way, to L.A. " headlines that might pop up.. Keep your eyes on the WX models and look for solid trends, ..not flashy dashy, singular model run outcomes ..AKA: " Fantasy Storms " One thing appears pretty certain atm, with the effects of this El Nino starting to kick in, E. Pac. ( ..and beyond in the basin ) will be getting pretty active as we get into September, which means the dice are loaded for a snake eyes kind of roll.
