In order to get the whole plant in the photo I have to stand pretty far back and lose detail while the tall leaves blend in with the canopy. Also, the existing leaves are erect and do a good job at hiding new flushes. Here’s a couple of photos from different angles trying to show the flush.

Mississippi Squad

https://www.palmtalk.org/forum/topic/81275-mississippi-squad/?do=findComment&comment=1260890

Follow along as i post videos on the official forum of the International Palm Society that have nothing to do with palms. Sailor talk should be expected as always. I've been hustling. I haven't done anything but water in a week. I've got so much to chop and prop, I've got so much to pot up, and i guess I've had the man flu for like a week. I've got death plugs to remove, I've had a few sales but it's literally like "what can I get for $20?" and it's always like old ladies so it's just like, damn.... @5am the blue bucket is the Orinoco from the pottery shop with no roots..the one on the left is a pup from one of the other pups you sent me. Welp it doesn't wanna let me upload but I had to raise the lights to the ceiling for the pink banana. I'm on an alocasia trip right now, I've bought..... a few. I sold a bunch of stuff I didn't wanna sell, and I've got a hoard of supplements for all of this new stuff. I'm proud of what I've got going, but there are a lot of days where I wish I had got into like, model airplanes instead so at least i could sniff the glue. I had no idea how much propane that heater uses - we're on a payment plan and then BAM we get these crazy bills and I went through about 300 gallons. Still cheaper than electric, but i had no idea. Good times man. Now i wait to see if we get 2" or 12" of rain from this storm. The forecasts are all over the place.

Palermo Botanical Garden, Sicily (December 2025)

https://www.palmtalk.org/forum/topic/92503-palermo-botanical-garden-sicily-december-2025/?do=findComment&comment=1260889

Agree with your Trachycarpus takil ID. I wouldn't push nitrogen yet. You're zone pushing root establishment is critical. Also if your palm is actively growing when winter comes around the new spears are extra susceptible to cold damage. IMO a little bit of fertilizer focusing on root stimulation isn't bad, I'd just stop after end of July early August and let the plants ease into the cooler weather, then they'll be ready for winter with protection. Next year after it warms up feed the crap out of them until July/August then backoff again for winter.

Tribears

https://www.palmtalk.org/forum/topic/93767-tribears/?do=findComment&comment=1260886

I got mine as an established palm at a non specialist nursery sold as D decaryi. Not cheap, but a bargain for what it is. It’s done relatively well considering my climate is far from ideal for them; C leptocheilos doesn’t grow reliably long term and there are only a handful of mature C decaryi around and they seem to need very well drained soil or they rot in winter. Even my pure C decaryi gets bad brown tipping and the trunk gets a bit wobbly each spring from what I assume is root rot. My Tribear doesn’t have that problem. A bit of brown tipping but that’s hard to avoid in my climate for most species.

What level of membership is required to gain access to the archived journals?

https://www.palmtalk.org/forum/topic/93769-what-level-of-membership-is-required-to-gain-access-to-the-archived-journals/?do=findComment&comment=1260885

I am unable to access the archived journals after registering as a supporter member.

Coccothrinax cupularis - seeds, seedlings, plants

https://www.palmtalk.org/forum/topic/93768-coccothrinax-cupularis-seeds-seedlings-plants/?do=findComment&comment=1260884

Looking to see if anyone has Coccothrinax cupularis available to sell. I grow things, some hydroponically in my greenhouse, I like pushing things to grow and reach full potential, but I have no experience with a palm. Should I wait awhile while the roots establish or can I start feeding them something? I know the clock is ticking until winter, getting closer each day. I just want them to get the best odds if there is anything extra I can do.

Need help from you Sabal masters

https://www.palmtalk.org/forum/topic/93741-need-help-from-you-sabal-masters/?do=findComment&comment=1260881

And costa

Ceroxylon amazonicum

https://www.palmtalk.org/forum/topic/84973-ceroxylon-amazonicum/?do=findComment&comment=1260880

That’s amazing growth speed, Len!

Need help from you Sabal masters

https://www.palmtalk.org/forum/topic/93741-need-help-from-you-sabal-masters/?do=findComment&comment=1260879

@Phoenikakias here are few pictures of hastula

For some, Florida drought is getting very "extreme"

https://www.palmtalk.org/forum/topic/79400-for-some-florida-drought-is-getting-very-extreme/?do=findComment&comment=1260878

Smoke from the fires really bad today. Within a year or so, I shoehorned it into an area that was a bit protected from full on sun by an umbrella tree. Like their parents, they don't seem too fussy about exposed locations, handling sun pretty well. Water requirements are modest as well, relatively speaking. It's about 8 ft. tall now, so growth rate on my hillside is moderately fast. Cool palm, one of only a handful of hybrids I have.

Freshly planted Windmills in West Virginia, any help?

https://www.palmtalk.org/forum/topic/93757-freshly-planted-windmills-in-west-virginia-any-help/?do=findComment&comment=1260870

Really nice palms you have there. @Allen is a great source for protection methods for sure. You are on the west side of the Appalachian mountain range from me here outside of Washington, DC in Northern Virginia, so you guys in that region seem to get more severe winter weather. With the right protection, they can do well. But a winter like we had here last winter can really do a number on even the hardiest, like unprotected Needle palms. As yours establish, they’ll become more tolerant of cold. You look to be in a 7a growing zone. I’m in 7b with a back yard south facing growing zone and that is most beneficial for natural protection. I’ve had a Trachy in-ground for 12-years and it’s 13’ tall now and I do give it minimal Christmas light/heat protection at the crown. Still, every winter it suffers frond damage. However, it recovers quickly and I clean out the ugliness toward fall. Hope all goes well and you’ve come to the right place for advise.

Tribears

https://www.palmtalk.org/forum/topic/93767-tribears/?do=findComment&comment=1260869

I just bought a seedling tribear at a crazy price and would like any information from people growing them!
