I decided to move one of my Chamaedorea radicalis clumps to a more shady spot and less reflected heat. They were somewhat easy to dig up and move, a few roots got cut off but they should be ok. Photos are Before planting and After planted. There is four palm in this clump.

Trachycarpus takil oreophilus Latisectus germination
by Rickybobby- 15 replies

Hey everyone i have sowed these 3 species. Actually and a bunch of fortunei. But the other 3 the info isn’t as available There in baggies. Should they be outside in the shade so they get cool nights and warm days or in the house at room temperature? I’ve had them on some bottom heat for a week but think maybe that is wrong for these. Also chime in on fortunei I had them in my palm room but it is always 77 to 80f so today I put them outside in the shade. Too date have germinated everything g pretty much but a trachycarpus of any kind. Thanks everyone.

Windmill troubles
by kbob11- 5 replies
I bought this bare rooted windmill a couple of weeks ago and it looked great aside from a few bent fronds. I skipped one day watering and came home to it looking awful and shriveled. The center spear is still firm but all of the fronds are looking more and more dead by the day. Is this a really bad case of transplant shock? The soil and pot are well draining and I put in some slow release palm fertilizer. Thoughts? I really hope it pulls through.

Finally planted the sagos and update on potted trachycarpus
by mdsonofthesouth- 2 replies

So as the title says I finally planted my sago palms about a week or so ago and hoping for the best, but planning on the worst. Pretty much dont expect them to live, and at the very best they will flush and defoliate until they do die. Either way I needed them out of pots as I'm not a fan of potted plants. Also my new trachycarpus that I potted up recently is still declining. The only hope is the healthy looking green spear. Sure would hate to have to return it... All my other potted up to be planted later palms are looking wonderful! Although sadly plantation might have to wait til 2019 as the addition isn't looking to be done soon enough for my latest date.

It is still green but the leaflets are still folded and it the palm looks ragged, the tallest spear looks like it's opening but I'm not sure if wind caused it to split/open,it was dug up last August 1st 2017 with 20% roots left out of a 100%,I couldn't get much roots as was in the ground solid, can anyone tell me what's going on with this palm?I got hydrogen peroxide 6% just incase but when should I use it?would mycorrhizal fungi help the roots?when will the palm produce more spears?

As I understand, the white spots on my Sabal Minor are tiny insects. What can I use to rid of them?

First palm plantings at my new home
by Ben OK- 11 replies

I finished building a house around the first week of July last year. I was so busy sodding and seeding a lawn and wrapping up loose ends home projects that I didn't get any of my potted plants in the ground last year. I have enough of my lawn well established now that I was able to plant one small bed on the south side of my home as well as make a bed around one of my septic sprinklers. The bed near the house: In the corner by the back porch is a sabal minor or possibly a palmetto (I've mixed up some small sabals) :

Follow up-Windmill Palm turning yellow
by Allen G- 3 replies
Hello everyone- This is a follow-up of a recent post of my 12 year old Windmill turning Yellow. The picture is it is now. Some of the yellow at the bottom has turned from yellow to brown and I should probably cut the brown off. The top of the tree is green with some minor yellow in spots but not much. It appears to be most on the lower umbrella. We had a very cold winter in SC and I do think that some of this may be wind damage. In April, I started to notice some of the yellow and I lightly fertilized with Palm Fertilizer (Miracle Grow-Palm Food). I plan to do it again in June. Actually, the tree does not look any worst than it did in April, just that some of the yell…

Bought one of these one leaf was turning yellow, maybe pot was too small,so I repotted it and seems to be going more yellow even though the soil and pot got good drainage,is this normal?is it because I washed old soil from root's before repotting?

Neglected Trachycarpus fortunei growth rate in Maryland

So I posted this palm in another thread and just looked on google maps per a PM on here thanks @MDPalm! The first picture is july 2014, last is from mid to late December. Growth rate isnt terribly fast, but OC is NOTORIUS for neglecting any and all landscaping (especially "exotics"). Judging by the size its been here for a while, and easily escaped my eyes for years as its of the beaten path, unless you were big on car washes while on vacation. I am not lol. Sabal mexicana Seedlings
by bananaman- 0 replies

I picked up some Sabal mexicana seeds off of the ground back in mid-April. They’d been sitting there over this years long, harsh winter, I presume. I decided to try planting some — I just used the little 4” pots, knowing I’d need to transplant them pretty soon because of how the roots grow. Sure enough, 4/6 have germinated so far. I transplanted them all today up into a gallon pot, and I was shocked at how deep the base of the eophyll was! On the three with them, the seed had grown almost down to the bottom of the little pot. They should grow fast, once they settle in. It’s hot and humid right now, so they should grow pretty fast! I wouldn’t be…

Overcast, rainy Florida lately. While it’s not as glossy as this photo makes it look, many JxB F1s have great form. Once these start blooming I’ll need help if not a complete handoff for the distribution phase at this land property. I have a silver/blue JxB that would probably be the best pollen donor for future generations. 5 gallon bucket in the foreground. Thick trunk will show better with another couple years of vertical growth. Steve

Do Trachycarpus Nanus flower in the spring like other Trachy's? I have three of these that are some15 years old now, and they have never flowered. I should be a grandfather by now darn it. They are slow indeed, but you would think by now eh? Thanks for any input on this.
