Largest most established ones have eked it out. Some mortality and some unsightly trunk damage taking its toll, and more damage may be slow to show up.

This area was in the 18-19F and inside the city urban zone.

Current Texas Gardening Zone 9a, Mean (1999-2024): 22F Low/104F High. Yearly Precipitation 39.17 inches.

Extremes: Low Min 4F 2021, 13.8F 2024. High Max 112F 2011/2023, Precipitation Max 58 inches 2015, Lowest 19 Inches 2011.

Ughh.. Yeah- queen palms just hate upper teens. And yes the trunk damage is a major issue when it gets to those temps. I really wish they were 8b hardy. Then of course maybe I'm partly glad they're not, because if they were, they would be way over-planted up here!
