Hmm I see, Nikon is one of the best cameras they said, I am not really a camera guy though, but sometimes things that are old are more stunning than the new ones! 😃

I thought my coconut was gone a few years back after a record winter rainfall. I cut it to clean the rot but I was expecting it will not make it anyway. It's not growing in it's normal climate but it's still surviving today.

Yes Richard, in the past I have already had many species of macrozamia, made from seeds, some sent to me by Tyrone and Jonathan and other seeds bought, and they lived until I went to the hospital, and there was no one to take care of them, all grown from seed, the ones I bought all died within a few days of arriving, yes the soil is very draining

Triphylla are so cute they need to planted next to a step or that intricate little corner you walk past or the garden will eat it up. They set seed from a young age and they do make fantastic container palms.

Yes you're right, its perhaps likely to be a humid cold that kills your palms, the high of moisture and cold temperature could lead to root rot according to google, and I didn't even know this before!

Drainage will be the key to success on this one, they grow in sandy soil in hot conditions. Coming from Western Australia. That has some very harsh conditions, it will be cold tolerant iam confident in saying that. As for any other information I hand it over to our WA resident @Tyrone he is the man for information on this one he lives there, I have one in my garden and it’s tough but watch out for overwatering!

I never thought this plant would take the cool weather, it’s bound to go dormant sooner or later, I like them that much I just purchased another one. It will be very interesting to see if it flowers!

I just had a good look at a random group of 6. The first few looked just like I put them into the mix. The worst one crushed easily and was rotten. One looked ok but I tried to delid it carefully and when I did white bugs crawled out. Probably fungus gnat lava. I reckon they are too moist. The good looking ones sink like stones. It’s possible I messed up the temps early on so they’ve given up. I don’t have a thermostatically controlled heating system so that could be half my problem. It certainly wasn’t a seed quality issue. They were fine and looked great. I think I need to reassess what I’m doing. On the positive side I’ve got some Guihaia argryata and Chamaedorea linearis coming up well using the same area heat source etc.

A nice example of a couple of chamaedoreas, one a Radicalis with both pollinated and unpollinated on the same spathe, and chamaedorea adscendens with it’s a successful hand pollination and an unsuccessful pollination attempt.

You can’t go wrong with that lot, a top little palm well sort of little, they can form quite large clumps and get to about 6 feet in height after 25 years in my garden. They are not so rare anymore for you gyuseppe!

Crazy as it is the ones in the greenhouse are all dead yet the ones in the hothouse are all alive, goes to show a little winter protection works, or it’s cold and wet that kills them not the cold, as the ones in the hothouse are not getting wet foliage. Crazy Palm verschaffeltia so fussy in my climate, no more attempts after this batch!

It's been raining almost every day at the office where I work at near 610 E/I-10. Something like 5-6" in the last 7 days. Pretty consistent lighter showers here just north of Uptown too. Feast or famine 😝

It can take even longer especially in a cool climate with a short growing season. The larger the palm the longer the recovery. It all depends on how much of a root ball you got. I really don’t think there is much to do here other than keep up with the regular watering and wait. If you see some funkiness in the crown and with the newer spears treat it with copper fungicide. Don’t trim any fronds no matter how unsightly unless they are 100% brown.

Thank you! At my neighbor’s house they’re in the shade of a couple of huge live oaks. They may get direct sun early in the morning, but shade for the remainder of the day.

Lucky you. I got 35 minutes of light rain today so that is a win for me. And yes I do time it with my phone. Probably only 1/10” but anything is appreciated. This was the first day that I did not water aside from a few pots When I was coming back from Enchanted Gardens on Saturday I drove through a substantial storm. Plus it was dark and thundering when I arrived there and was worried I wasn’t going to have time to look around. When I got home I asked if we got any rain? Standard Response - No, it was sunny here the whole time you were gone. The six rainy weeks we had I was beginning to think that I had gone overboard planting all the central Texas staple plants. I’m not regretting that now. Same old weather patterns at my house. Thunder and dark clouds in the area pretty much daily but the rain always goes around me.
