I don’t like to trunk cut if you’re cutting off green fronds to do so. When To Trunk Cut A Palm https://youtu.be/KQ9zPxk5EjY

    Chrysalidocarpus Onihalensis in Florida

I ordered seedlings and lost one a few days after arrival to spear pull, even though I potted it up in dry mix and only watered once. I'm thinking lots of sun and dryer once they adjust so I moved them to higher light and no top water (they will get runoff from other pots is all). Three left to see how they do now.

    Buying plants again

Well done Richard, keep putting in as many plants as you can, I'm happy for you, if only I had all that land you have, but I'm a humble person and I'm happy with what I have.👌

Absolutely beautiful, a work of art and colour!
  15. I purchased the already germinated seeds, placed them in sterilized boiled sphagnum moss, and placed them in a closed container in the box where I germinate all my palm seeds, where the temperature is around 30 degrees Celsius/86 F. The seedlings emerged without problems, growing until they developed their first split leaf, but then they began to decline; within a few weeks, practically all of them died. Afterward, I thought that perhaps this temperature was too high for those plants, is that true?

    New Guinea Highlands

Not what you know but who you know, when it comes to palms!
  18. After 5 years of starting up my nursery, iam finally starting to see the results. Both in quality of the stock and growth, also in a few sales, moving a bit here and there with sizeable stock to sell after 5 years. I knew it would take 5 years to start a nursery, and as I also know it’s 10 years before you really get into the good stuff. From there on it’s up and working for the long run. And that’s the plan. Living the dream!

Crotons sprouting, foxtail trying to recover, Christmas palms now sprouting green from the center, bottle 2nd spear looks good. Coconut shooting up new growth mostly green but dead fronds all snapped jn the wind storms. Lawn guy cutting them off this weekend. I see no growth on shrubs like clusia.
  23. I believe parts of California have experienced a record-breaking heat wave, which may cause brown tips even without excess fertilizer. I presume you have watered them extensively during this hot, dry streak? Keep watering. The good news: Phoenix roebelenii produces more leaves more rapidly than almost any other palm on earth. Your browned tips will soon be overhung with new green fronds. Water generously.
  24. Looking good, Mike! Finally a really fine day to get some work done outdoors. Thanks for uncovering these beauties to share with us here. I do envy your soil! Palms grow more robust with that deep soil.
