It’s chamaedorea time in the garden

That’s the one Harry, but the best part is look at how great your garden will look. What with only another 400 varieties to collect, plus you will need a male and female of each if one wants to do a bit of palm seed collecting. So another 800 little chamaedoreas won’t need that much space, I think! Richard
  4. Argh the dypsis complex syndrome. Such a shame that Madagascar has lost most of its native habitat. Palms in cultivation will never be found in habitat there again. This leaves a big gap in the identification of indigenous species now in cultivation.

  6. Here’s the “type” at the Black garden in Fountain Valley, OC California. Scream obscenities with delight! Chrysalidocarpus blackii (above) looks a lot like lanceloata, in fact Mr Black bought his thinking that’s what it was since that’s what the original label says. But the trunks are a lot thicker and the infructescence is totally different. Blackii’s are dense and compact while lanceolata’s dangle like C. lutescens’.

    White Kunzo Monstera

I'm gonna open with this meme. Anyway as always price is OBO, white monstera. Yes it was sold by Costa but it's been confirmed they did not grow them, it's from the Kunzo lineage also confirmed by them. Not an albo or creme Brule or Thai con. Rehabbed and is now pushing out of a 1g pot. I've got it listed elsewhere for more optimistic prices, these were sold in March and didn't last long. $75 obo for y'all plus the ride.

    Mississippi Squad

Yeah, we got those here too. But what pissed me off is I've been trying to unload some really nice canna for 10-15 bucks apiece and they took some raggedy ones and threw some marigolds in the pot for $70... I uploaded some more vids to YouTube and Instagram today too, cool things are going outside to harden off.

    MLB 2026 Thread

Time to go back to the doom and gloom again. 20 LOB in 2 games isn't ideal. And having like 30 injured pitchers doesn't help.
  11. Wow wee, Jim. What else can one say? Truly spectacular and all these new goodies I'm sure will do beautifully under your deft hand. And I agree on planting small...not only because the plants seem to like it when their roots can decide where to go from a young age, but also of course it makes it so easy to stuff these things into all the little nooks and crannies that are just aching for another palm (especially when those big containers just won't fit, dang it). Plus no broken back trying to dig a hole for a 15-gallon monster (or lugging it home). Only water, fertilizer and (quite a bit of) patience are required. Life goes along, you blink a few times, and suddenly everything's big and beautiful!

    Cloud Photos

Not the first one observed this year, ..but the brightest so far.. ChzA ( Circumhorizontal Arc ) Tough to see but flaring up under and to the far left of the 22deg Halo. Another flare up attempt. " Green Flash " flareup.. Mature phase w/ Full spectrum coloration. Fainter event about a week ago, ..but present if you look closely enough.. Quick hitter as a batch of Cirrus w/ the right crystal orientation passes through..
  20. That time of year again ( ..Though earlier than last year ) for some beastly, neighborhood full frontals..

    Rainbows

    Today:
  22. This is the stick neighbor of the heavier bloomer. It will be interesting to see how long it takes for these stick Royal Poinciana's to bloom this year:
  23. One additional leaved I saw today just starting to bloom:
  24. This guy is really taking off. I have noted an incongruency. Specifically, the Royal Poinciana's that have held their leaves seem to be blooming. That stated, the Royal Poinciana's that have lost their leaves and look like sticks do not show any hint of bloom:
  25. Could be mislabeled!

    Hints of Spring ..Part 2?..

Some chunky Firesticks.. And a first observation of Tithonia diversifolia, in the area.. Ipomoea carnea Ficus benjamina, looking great hovering just above the yellow Canna. Might suggest my neighbor yank the puke- inducing Lagerstromia.. ..A seeding Agave ...colorata?? While i've seen one before, this sure looks like the first neighborhood Spathodea, just down the road. Leaves don't look right for any currently observed - in - the - area Cassia sp. specimens, let alone others i've seen elsewhere.. Regardless, ..We'll see
