Nice haul. My recent trip down to La Habra to see @DoomsDave gave me a boost . My buddy Kurt and I came home with the back of his SUV packed! Gaussia , Dypsis Cabadae , Ernie’s ( Dave is usually well stocked with Chamaedorea Ernesti Augusti ) , Ptychosperma , and Kurt got more than me! Nice feeling to adopt new plants for the garden . We were going to place a combined order with Floribunda , but Kurt wanted some larger stuff and he was wanting to meet Dave. I am waiting for cooler temps to plant but the shade lovers will be going in the ground soon. I need to get some Ernie’s in the ground as “ in betweenie “ palms!😄Happy gardening for @happypalms ! Mine is growing. I have one next to my bed, and others growing in my living room. I realize I have a monster right next to my bed. Just imagine if it were a *Borassus* or a *Jubaea*.

I don't think there are any easy solar ways besides a solar generator which would need to be weather protected and a pretty large solar panel as you need 120 watts or so of total heat and a runtime of 8 hours or more. When you most need it the solar panel would be iced or not have sun.

It’s a very good starting price, sir. Sir, I would pay 500. This palm is unique; it has a look reminiscent of *Phoenix rupicola*. Whoever buys it will be a serious collector.

Archie’s are a bit sensitive for sure , I have had success with moving volunteer seedlings . Maybe it is easier in a garden where the soil is amended and softer. My friend Kurt does it with A Purpurae and A. Maxima from his mature palms . In fact he gave me some for my garden and they are trucking right along. If you just treat them like other palms , they will not make it . That’s my experience , here in a temperate environment. Even potted ones must be treated kindly when planting out or they will sulk. My thoughts are similar to @happypalms - Some kind of Chrysalidocarpus/Dypsis. Based on the ones I've gotten from you, Chrysalidocarpus plumosas or Chrysalidocarpus onilahensis maybe?

You may notice the year you get fruit it’s dry around flowering. Anthracnose fungus is the culprit, when they are flowering any amount of rainfall triggers this on the flowers. The usual fungicide treatments work well. But there’s nothing better than an organic mango. And if you give that mango to wife she won’t be so chainsaw happy to cut down your tree. I get the same with my tree, and i finally get fruit only to have the fruit bats get them. 30 year old mango tree and only ever gotten 7 mangoes to eat over all those years!

Bit of a push on the seedlings mid winter. But I had the chance to pick 50 Calyptrocalyx pollyphylus, at a very reasonable price for 75mm tube stock so I grabbed them. I have a few porphyllus in trays in the greenhouse already doing well over winter, so this batch should be ok. And while I was ordering a few palms I grabbed a few cordylines rubra and kaui beauty, along with some plumeria cuttings for the garden.

Most certainly you can, but you have to sit up at the back of bus on the backseat. Oh and a nice little palm!

You just don’t know until you try, I have not had much experience with decipiens as transplanted seedlings, but I do know every time I dig out a little archontophoenix in a creek bed upon a visit to their habitat, none have lived so I now don’t bother with seedlings just pick up a few seeds. But we can’t be told until we try it ourselves, but they were right 99 percent of the time, it won’t live story🤣 Richard

Alogoptrea arenaria throwing a new flower, viable seeds have been collected from this single plant, and germinating them was easy provided it was a constant 30 degrees celcius.

A great couple of ferns for the garden, blechnum gibbum and dicksonia Antarctica. The blechnum are easy and fast growing. The dicksonia was a purchase as just a stem and no foliage, basically bare rooted. They just need a little attention now and then with a bit of water. And both offering that tropical looking palm that’s so desired!

No idea what’s the name except it’s a real winter beauty!

A very mild winter that’s for sure this winter. 24 degrees celcius at work today and it was 13 degrees celcius in the morning at 6.30. August it may get cold as we are not forecast for any rain, so open sky dry days means cold weather especially around the full moon. I think our friends in Tasmania know what cold is @Jonathan and even @tim_brissy_13 to me these growers are the real cold climate growers. And I guess good old cousin Jack knew what to say to you, like I say to the Vanuatu guys at work, it’s not cold you wait until winter gets here!

A couple of chamaedoreas. Cham adscendens Cham Ernest augustii Cham klotzshciana

The classic Joey palm, so desired for that tropical look. Many a grower has wanted one or two in there collection. But due to price and the talk of how difficult they are to grow, alas many a grower has forgone the opportunity of having one. They are yes temperamental to some extent, but not as tricky as you would think. Good drainage, lots of water and they like a feed. You can sit them in a tray of water in the greenhouse, if in the garden they will drink as much water as you give them. Cool tolerant but the more temperate the slower they will be, not a frost tolerant palm but will take temperatures down to 2 degrees celcius. The ones in the ground are about 4 years old in a subtropical climate. If you’re after a tropical looking palm that’s highly ornamental get a trio of joeys!

Everything go gain and nothing to loose, and I much prefer the Offspring song, give it to me baby ahaha! Dypsis?

it even grows during the winter? sounds like a winner for sure. you definitely wanna propagate those genetics if it ever flowers. plants will mutate and adapt to their environment over successive generations. considering the fact you'd be starting with genetics that are already somewhat adaptable and is infact thriving in your location it wouldn't take too long to get a landrace going. maybe only two or three generations for something well adapted.

Be careful, as seedlings if you break their roots they die. As i said I have no experience with transplanting established palms. Would I attempt to transplant my ones, the answer is not very likely, iam sure it’s possible but not for my garden specimens.

It’ll love it in that heat & DG. I wouldn’t be afraid to water your Encephalartos. Irrigation will flow thru that medium so there’s little concern for root rot. Plants will love it. For what’s it worth….i do think you ID’d yours correctly. I’ve seen that cross before and it does look different than mine. Not sure if there’s any truth to it but I’ve heard the plant takes on more father characteristics. Would make sense in both our cases -dale
