Coconuts in New South Wales.

There’s a few planted around Woolgoolga,Mullaway and Red rock. I tried to grow them only 10 minutes drive away further north inland but no luck. Definitely a coastal palm for this area! - Yesterday

A few pics from the far north coast of NSW. Apart from South West Rocks, these could be the most southerly. Covering Brunswick Heads to Yamba.

We have received a good amount of rain this week. The soil is all saturated . But overall the lack of rain we get in the southern half of Texas is very concerning. We're all in for a rude awakening. Imagine water restrictions where you can't even water hose your plants anymore while it's in the 90 plus and no rain in months. We lose oak trees and cypress trees in south central Texas.

Cycad cones and flushes

It's a great hybrid, but the plant kneads moar lite. -
No questions ....we're friends on Facebook I see where you are and what you're doing lol. Wish I could just be on a roadtrip to explore palms like you guys do. I drove through Homestead to Key Largo few years back. The palms in South Florida are all amazing.

I can deal with either of those Houston minimum temperatures this coming winter! We got our first rainfall of 2026 - roughly 2.5" combined on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday this past week. Gonna have to get the mower out for the first time since January...

Tree Service work in SoCal - Proof of COI
flplantguy replied to Christopher Dillman's topic in DISCUSSING PALM TREES WORLDWIDE
They should have no issue if they have it, which means those companies don't. We called them "fly by night" companies, and they usually undercut legitimate businesses that pay their taxes and insure their workers (which costs more in the budget than the illegal company has to pay). Some companies are exempt with too few workers, at least in florida, but they could say that at least when you talk to them🤷.- 1 reply

Cycad cones and flushes
Urban Rainforest replied to Urban Rainforest's topic in TROPICAL LOOKING PLANTS - Other Than Palms
Thanks for the ID Dan! I figured the botanist should have it figured out by now. I have had this plant well over 20 years! -
Reminds me that I need to change my PT photo as my hair is now below my shoulders… I am guessing we’ll have name tags, but please come up and say hello if anyone is attending.

Cycas Sp. Silver. At least that is what it was given to me as many years ago. Maybe it has a real name now🤔 Anyhows this Cycad is deciduous dropping its old leaves right as its getting its new ones. Also when I potted it up the tubers were orange like carrots or yams. I will post another pic once the flush fully expands. -

3 years ago I bought 4 differant one leaf Woodii hybrids. Fast forward and I potted 2 of them up into 15 gal. Today. Both had 3” caudexes! These things are speedsters! Here is (Fat Arenarius x Arenarius Woodii) starting to flush. -
Tree Service work in SoCal - Proof of COI
Christopher Dillman posted a topic in DISCUSSING PALM TREES WORLDWIDE
For California residents, I have numerous gardeners knock on my door and asking to prune my queen palms out front. My home insurance says otherwise, as I can't have uninsured workers get hurt on my property for obvious reasons. Anyone experience resistance from Tree Service companies to providing a simple certificate of insurance/proof of liability coverage? Personally I don't think it's an issue to ask to cover the risk, yet these companies go radio silent on me when I ask for proof. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Would like to hear other homeowner experiences when dealing with this. -

Here is a pic of one of my E. Cleopatras (Arenarius x Horridus.) Each flush gets a little bluer than the last. -

I have lots of new flushes going right now! With the summer like weather we have been having here in So Cal the plants think its like May or June. Here are just a few of the plants I have flushing right now. This Horridus is a very basic leaf form but one of my bluest. Pics were taken after a morning rain shower so looked a little less blue than normal. -
Have they not grown much? Looking great though. Are there any old pics?

Are there any updates on these palms post-freeze yet? -
I considered that but wasn't sure if the look was right. Probably the most likely suspect. Thanks.
