I just got this a few minutes ago from a guy who grew it in his apartment for about 20 years. He’s moving out of state and it needs to go in the ground so I’m giving it to someone who can plant it in the ground preferably in Palm Springs or similar area. Send me a PM if interested. Too big to ship local pickup. Palmy love to you all!

Chamaedorea Radicalis

I got a bunch of seeds from DoomsDave in 2016 which turned into 22 seedlings of which I put 2 or 3 each in 8 bigger pots and have given them away to friends so that I now have 2 left. I'm keeping one myself. Anyone reading this forum can have the remaining one for free but you'd have to pay for shipping (or pick it up). No point asking if you're outside Europe, it'd bee too expensive to send. It's also more fun to have in Europe maybe since it isn't available anywhere in Europe as far as I have seen. Cheapest shipping I can find is PostNord for 122 SEK within Sweden and 351 SEK (~€35) to the European countries I checked (e g France, Germany, Denmark, Norway). Cold ha…

Free overgrown Livistona nitida
by George Sparkman- 6 replies

Here is a picture of some very large Livistona nitidas in 15g pots rooted in the ground. The ones in front only have a few roots in the ground and easily removed. The very large, braced one is rooted in the ground and would require some digging and strong guys to move it. As you can see most of the leaves were cut to reduce weight but it is still a monster. Contact me if you are interested. Remember you will be doing all the work. Make it a Livistona PRA.......

Bambusa textilis Kanapaha
by Palmə häl′ik- 1 reply

I've gotta thin out my boo. These things will eat up some real estate... Up fer grabs is a 25gal-ish Bambusa textilis Kanapaha (Royal Bamboo, Wong Chuk Bamboo). It's too wide to go into a 15gal unless divided... These were bought from the TampaBay area bamboo guru, Mr. Roy Rogers. This thing was a single caned, one gallon when I planted it. I bought five of 'em, so you can imagine where I'm at with these... Very tight, erect culms. She's right around twenty feet tall right now. ~Ray.

A few free palms - come dig em up
by Hilo Jason- 1 follower

I'm going through the yard and removing a few palms that don't seem to be 100% happy. I'm looking to dig these up ASAP to make room for new plantings. Come and help dig them, bring a few pots and they're yours. PM for details, directions. First come, first served. Hyophorbe Verschafeltii Gaussia Maya Licuala Ramsayi All 3 of these got a bit beat up this past winter, but should recover nicely if put in a good micro-climate and given some TLC. I'd rather give them away and give them a second chance then throw them in the greens bin. I might have a couple more as well, so whoever comes to get these might end up with some more if interested.

Chamaedorea oreophila, (was C. monostachys)
by Darold Petty- 5 replies

This palm is considered the third most frost hardy, after C. radicalis and C. microspadix. Unfortunately in my very cool, humid microclimate the palm is afflicted by thrip. I gave away previous plants to a friend in a hot, inland area (Brentwood, CA) and the thrip problem went away, his palms are growing well. I purchased these three 1-gallon plants shown in the photograph as a second attempt to grow this species in my garden. They are mature, and two have flowerstalks. However they have been damaged by thrip also. I don't care to attempt to control the thrip with chemical pesticide so I offer them for free. The only condition is no shipping; you mus…

Hey all, My folks have a humongus staghorn (8-9 ft across) that finally snapped the 4x4 beam it was started on. (About 45 years ago). Anyway it's too big to move, so I'm happy to let folks remove chunks at least until we get it down to a managable size. They root easily. Let me know if you're interested. Bret

Free Abused Dypsis Saintlucei
by Ice Blue- 6 replies
- 2.4k views
I have a Dypsis Saintlucei that doesn't look too pretty, but I just can't bring myself to throw her away. I don't have a spot for her in my yard, so I don't plan on reviving her myself. One 1.5 - 2 foot leaf and an emerging spear that is not looking that great either. If you are a master of dypsis revival, come rescue this poor maiden. I'm south of San Diego. Shoot me your email via PM if you want a pic.
