Chamaerops glauca seeds

Featured Replies

After having butchered mine for the annual yrim job, I have found another 20 seeds on a dwarf infructescence well hidden inside a leaf base. So I now I can send two lots of ten seeds each to anyone interested.

I agree!

If I didn't have a couple of my own, I'd ask for seed. Just planted a batch. How long do they take to sprout?

According to reports from other growers, those seeds germinate within a month or two at a very high rate. @Palmensammler is most proper to express own opinion onthis matter.

Hmm. Have to check my pot. It's been a lot longer than a month.

II was meaning only the seeds from this specimen. Chamaerops seeds vary a lot in the time needed for germination.Especially with big seeds, I have come occasionaly across zero germination after many months.

Hi all,

when I got the seeds from a member of the EPS I didn't take care of them so much, just soaked them for two days and then saw them in a big pot. I had nearly 100% germination rate within two month. Despite a few which have been sent to other members of the EPS I gave some to other palm friends I know. Around 10 are still in a community pot and now growing. Need to take a picture on Friday. Here's a picture of the first germinated seeds. A lot more came up

Ok. Do you think them can make it in my tropical/humid environment?

If yes, I want some.

Frankly I have no idea, since I live in a temperate zone. Why don't you put this question to main forum?

Have you made up your mind? If you do not want them, someone else may announce interest.

Ohh sorry. Please give them away to another person who live in Mediterranean or temperate area. I don't want to kill seedlings due to my climate.

Thanks a lot Konstantino.
