RULES AND GUIDELINES - PLEASE READ

You must be designated as an IPS Member to list items (start topics) in this forum. You need to request this designation if you are a member. It is not automatic. Contact the Moderator.

IPS Members may not list items for trade from non-member third parties. When discussing new acquisitions, deals, or availability of palms/plants, please refrain from mentioning the names of Big Box stores, nurseries, or other outlets that are not IPS Members. Third parties will be permitted to mention the source, price, or availability of plants, seeds, or garden related products in the course of normal Forum discussions if directly acquired from or offered by IPS Members only. Promotional intent or language by third parties should be avoided.

Palms offered for trade may include a suggested value and/or desired exchange. Photos are encouraged. Listings will be removed 60 days after the original posting unless otherwise requested.

The IPS provides this subforum as a courtesy to all those interested in palms.

    I have these 2 Howeas that I need to find a home for. They were used as interior decor for a couple of years, but are no longer needed. Too big for my living room, so maybe there is someone in the Bay Area with either high ceilings or an outdoor space. The palm on the left has lost several leaves since this picture was taken, and is looking a bit sparce at the moment. The palm on the right looks pretty much the same as pictured.

    I am a variegated palm and cycad collector. I have over 30 different species that are variegated and have doubles and triples of a few to trade with. I am also willing to buy variegates if you're just looking to thin out a collection! and if you have a single variegated tree that you don't really care about, I also have around 150 species of exotic "green" palms that I am willing to trade with.     I recently picked up this 15 gallon Sabal mauritiiformis without researching it...you know how that goes... Anyway, looking at the freeze reports last night, I realized that it wouldn't live to the end of the year in Santa Rosa. Is there anyone in the bay area who this palm might be worth trying?     December's rain and wind caused my large Acacia to lean against a fence common with my neighbor's yard. It was threatening to bring the fence down, so today I cut it, and now I have this gaping hole with a view of my neighbor's house. I've been wanting to remove and put in bamboo anyway, and this has accelerated that situation. So... I'm looking for good sized bamboo, eventually 3-5" culms, clumping, erect appearance (not weepy like B. tuldoides "ventricosa"), and decent size - large 5 gallon and up.     I have a large 25 gallon plectocomia himalaya for trade. It's suckering like crazy. The main canes have been cut off so that it can be transported, it's not possible to transport otherwise. Grows new canes at up to a foot a week in our climate here in Northern California.

    All, I harvested the fruits on Monday and the seeds finished drying today. I estimate that I have about 2500 seeds available for trade or other transactions. These seeds are from a tree that produces exceptionally tasty fruit, better than any other Butia I have tasted in the past. I ate quite a bit of it during the process....... and I must say that my fiber intake improved as well. If you are interested, please let me know. Thanks, John

    I've got some strange Sabal minor seeds to give away...I had a thread on here earlier this year about the mother plant; the leaves lay almost horizontal, the plant has only a few leaves at any time, but it grows new leaves like crazy, and hasn't increased in size much since I planted it in 1995 or so. No trunk or above ground development; all leaves are directly from the ground. I can supply photos, too. Very healthy, just an odd growth habit. Act now and I will throw in some Sabal palmetto seeds too. Two Sabal species for the price of one! ($0.00) Just give me your mailing address; these are very cold hardy seeds. I can probably supply 3-6 interested sprouters…
