Yes. This girl pushed 3 cones last summer with no flush between those three and this one. She pushed at least one cone a couple of years before the triplets, but I don't recall if that was the first. The munchii had me leaning male but I am a little unsure at this point. These are the first cones on the Encephalartos munchii .

It’s been a bizarre week. 106f yesterday here in Sugar Land. Ridiculously hot, hottest I’ve ever experienced. Today, we have a tropical storm that was supposed to be a nonevent but winded up causing a lot of rain, lightning, and somehow no wind.

Yesterday was god awful here in Manvel 102° at my house. That evening we had a piece of the violent storm that came through the Galveston county area . Today we had more rain from boring Bertha and a high of mid 80s quite the difference….

I had a small one that had double spear pull sealing it’s fate and it had two leaves at the time that happened, three years later with no spears it still had two leaves so I finally dug her out. How sad it’s beautiful palm In fact, I think I obtained mine from you, Mike.

I got a bunch of very generously gifted R palates seeds a couple of years ago. Absolutely zero have germinated to this day, but strangely all seeds still look solid and unaffected by fungus or mould. Does anyone have any tips on germinating this species? I’m considering starting again and re sowing after a bit of a soak in bleach which has been successful on some other seeds with long viability periods (Brahea sp and some others).

Hey Rich, I just sowed a few seeds gifted by @tim_brissy_13 via your good self, thank you kindly for organising! Wondering if you've got any advice on germination? I've got them in my normal peat/perlite mix in baggies, at low to mid 20's, does that sound reasonable? Also, do you happen to know anything about the provenance of your plants or where the seed came from?? Cheers, Jonathan

Where to buy seeds or palms. The only site i found was rarepamlseeds.com, among us only and 19 year old out of business companies. I'm looking for some variations of Trachycarpus, butia and maybe a butiagrus.

That is the nursery I was referring to! They are pretty darn good , not as good as when Karl and Helen Doebler were there , but Danny does a good job. The nursery that started my palm journey. Karl used to bring in seedlings from folks in the Palm Society and had dedicated a corner of the greenhouse to sell them. They still have some rare ones now and then . Harry

I recently sprouted some seeds I that I got as Nenga but they might be Pinanga. Two of the three seeds sprouted but they came out all white. I've seen sprouts from variegated palms come up all white but the mother plant was normal green. Has anyone seen this happen with either of these types of palms? Is this just something that this species does and then it greens up or did I just get double unlucky?
