Potential Creation of Tennessee or Appalachian Palm Society?

May be a good idea to let it get lower since tropicals can handle 50F and some tropicals and subtropicals especially subtropicals need. Bit of cool. Also Will save money -

Yeah, we might not though just one property is right next to it others are like 5 miles inland def can grow needle palms idk if you saw my other thread but that needle in Cincy man crazy, I might also get chickens cause in general I also like farming and gardening! If you want me to grow anything in a tropical setting for you idk to look at give suggestions! I’m expecting at least a (No variation like one year will be lower than avg this will be the avg) it will be a zone 12b aka (55-60F) lowest. greenhouse. -
I think mine just took a few more days to show the damage. Mine look slightly better than yours, but my smallest is also about twice the size as the ones in your photo. All of the Bismarckia around I4 from Lake Mary to Orange City look pretty toasty beige too. Most have at least one or two decent looking new fronds, so they probably will grow back. I can't say the same for other palms...like pretty much all of my Dypsis/Chrysalidocarpus.

It was 29.3 at my place last night, with light frost around 8AM. It was just barely visible on the rooftops, probably because it was so dry. The airport hit 34F for 2 hours, with no significant wind. The UHI effect helps them again! I took a look through the yard over the past couple of days...much death and destruction. You know it was cold when the Allagoptera Arenaria have at least 25% burnt fronds. The damage is definitely a LOT worse than 24.4F a couple of years ago. But it's hard to judge whether it was: The extra 2 degrees (22.5F vs 24.4F) The high wind this year vs frost 3 years ago Duration of cold (30 to 50% more hours under freezing this year) Repeated sub-zero cold fronts Very low daytime highs after cold fronts Late timeframe with 6 or 7 freeze nights in February I can't even make a guess as to what part of the above items made the biggest difference, and there's probably more bullet points I haven't thought of.

Well we are staying here until at least August but we will start ya know moving things there and contacting construction companies for the greenhouse, yeah I can’t visualise but it will be uhh.. large nough to fit a decent size inground queen palm for example. It’s only 1 zone lower and one of the houses is very close to the OH river (btw we will be on the KY side of the river so) but yeah! Very exciting very stressful and anxious cause it’s just… idk what to do lol gotta plan and do lots of work. - Today

There tough little palms, he does water his garden a bit, and the soil is beautiful for vegetables. It’s amazing what you see around in some peoples gardens. Theres one house in my hometown thay has two Bismarckia palms planted either side of the house steps, that’s fine to do that but he’s planted them so close to the steps and house, they are in for a big surprise and bill later on when they grow up past the juvenile stage. For those of you that sell regularly, and have been inspected and licensed, have you noticed that mentioning state inspections or a license makes a difference in your sales? I'm still waiting on my license in the mail, but I'm hoping that mentioning a state inspection gives me a leg up on others. Has it made a difference for y'all?

@DoomsDave any idea when more seeds or sprouts of this one might be available? Or your Radicalis? After it warms up I've already got some sales pending so I can actually send you a shipping label this time. And I dunno if I've got anything you'd want to try at the Death Camp but you're def on the list of people I owe favors to.- 21 replies

I need to find something for palms that works the way Banana Fuel works, cuz it sounds like my sprouts are probably 5 years away from being that size.

What happened to Texas Cold Hardy Palms (Joseph Rossi)
JohnAndSancho replied to PAPalmtrees's topic in COLD HARDY PALMS
This is the first time I've seen Bing referenced in anything other than a joke in about 5 years, but yeah - I do miss when Google was a search engine and not an AI toy. I'm not gonna quote all of the social media posts, but I am on Twitter and if you like me on here you'd hate me on there. The toxicity is real there and it's where I get to vent about stuff I wouldn't dare bring up here. I just recently started an Instagram and I was briefly on TikTok and I won't publicly disclose why I left here, but I'll post it on Twitter. I was on Bluesky but they actually banned it in my state because our govt decided they needed ID verification like porn sites, but - I can see the toxic crap on Twitter all day long even if I was like 8 years old. I'm glad to see the EU cracking down on it, but the ads on Instagram are so accurate they're scary. On the plus side I did get free diabetic supplies and did get put in contact with a lawyer to help me with SSDI, but they also seem to know I'm older, single, and they seem to know what kind of women I'm attracted to and I'm targeted by AI bots that fit that mold lol. I just wish there was a way to pull the regulars back from Facebook and bring them back here. -
42 here with mid 30s inland, but the forecast shows that wind shift from the south, and I'm seeing it on my station with the little movement of air that would be a gust of it was faster. I may recover stuff tonight but idk yet.

The ones you sent me are in 1g pots with baggies over them in coir. Probably time to mist them again. They're both on mats, one is set to 90 and one is set to 87.5. Nothing so far but, I mean, I ain't worried. I've got 2 year old Brahea that are just now sprouting and it's not like I've got tons of space anyway. If you've looked at my YouTube it's kinda crowded in there right now.
