  17. Great, thanks for your advice! I won't be worried about overwatering them then. I already have a drip irrigation system, and I might put a saucer under the pot. You have a magnificent spot and beautiful palm trees; you can consider yourself lucky! 🤩

    A full monty photo and details of the leaflets at different points along the rachis will be helpful to get an answer. I can't think of any Dioons with a caudex that fat. The caudex looks more like an Encephalartos. That is why leaflet details are important.

    Sabal hybridization vs variability

    I had heard from a source and later verified through iNaturalist that Sabal uresana and rosei appear to hybridize in Sinaloa. South of where they overlap rosei is solely a green species, but blue ‘hybrids’ can be found in habitat overlap . Not definitive but definitely strong evidence.
