A cooking mystery
by _Keith- 6 replies

Slowly, and silently I worked my way around the back of the group, carefully judging which one to grab and most likely to go without a fight. Finally I saw my mark, quickly reached in, grabbed its hard neck and twisting with all of the force I could muster. It was motionless in my grasp, it’s lifeblood now gone. Into the kitchen I went, grabbing a cleaver and offing its head with a single clean blow. Next I turned the cleaver sideways and whacked its head several times until I felt its structure shatter. I reached in through the skin and scaly mess to retrieve the Pièce de résistance, the moist and tender flesh, which I mixed with spices and ran through my grinder. Before…

Asparagus and the smell of,,,,
by _Keith- 10 replies

When I eat Asparagus there is a certain effect on a certain liquid. I always assumed this happened to everyone, but I recently red that the effect does or does not happen based on the genetics of the individual. So, my question is, when you eat Asparagus does this odoriferous change happen to your fluids, or not?

Listening to all the hype about the new future King of England I heard that Australia might leave the British Commonwealth after the current Queen dies. Does all this royal King and Queen stuff mean much to Australians? Will you guys ever leave the Commonwealth? We could have ended up a part of the Commonwealth. Here is the Hawaiian flag.

Like a lot of americans I’m trying to learn how to have a better diet and learn more about the food I eat and what food I should stay away from. A health nut friend sent me this website that has some very interesting information on it. Here’s one of many articles….. PS: I actually stop buying most of these food products along time ago on my own. Thought others would enjoy reading. i made a call over a week ago that the market was not happy about Uncle BEN pulling the plug. guys like DEAN jumped in waving his arms after a little pop and told you i was wrong. well the "sell - off " goes on - just as i predicted and told you it would. we will sell off to the point where the market is priced with the understanding that the fed may start backing off the printing press at any time. right now there are a million "top callers" so this WONT be the top. heck there may not even BE a top -just a bad pullback while investors kick and scream. there is also end of month selling going on.................................

Man in Brazil killed by cow through his roof
by DoomsDave- 0 replies

How's this for a kick in the head? A Brazilian man has died after a 3000-pound cow crashed through the roof of his house and crushed him, according to local reports. Joao Maria de Souza was sleeping with his wife when the animal plunged through the corrugated asbestos shelter of his home in Caratinga in south-eastern Brazil. The cow is thought to have escaped from a nearby farm, before it clambered onto the home, which backs onto a steep hill. It then fell eight-feet onto de Souza's side of the bed, after the roof buckled under its weight, local media reported. His wife was unharmed. http://worldnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/07/15/19479766-reports-c…

Deadly oak disease 'spreading' in UK
by avanza- 0 replies
The government is stepping up monitoring of a disease thought to pose a serious threat to UK oak trees. Acute Oak Decline, which causes weeping patches on the stems of mature trees, is on the rise in England, particularly in the Midlands and the South East. A national survey has been commissioned as part of a new £1.1m research drive. Thousands of trees are thought to be affected, the Forestry Commission's lead scientist on the condition told Radio 4's Farming Today. "This is a serious problem in the UK," said Dr Sandra Denman. "So far we've only seen it in England, but because we haven't done any formal surveys we're unsure as to the full extent of the problem.…
