Hi Sean Thanks so would this be straight or is it mixed with water and do I spray on the fronds or water the base with it

I don't see anything too unusual. You could treat the bud twice a week for a month with H2O2 if you're worried.

Sadly my Adansonia digitata was not getting enough heat or too short a season of heat compared to what it required. It would get new leaves in mid-summer and had a short growing season. I finally gave up and dug it out. I put it in a pot to give to a friend who lives in Vista, where hopefully it is getting the heat that it needs. It has been a little over a year now since I gave up. I love these trees. Had it grown the way they want to, I would have had to remove it eventually as well, as it would have outgrown my garden. That would have been a problem I would have enjoyed having.

Well, that happened! Livistona fulva rapid decline.

I’ve tried fulva and had no luck keeping it alive. Replaced it with L drudei, which is slow - not enough sun? - is doing well. Nematodes and fulva make sense. -
Cycad Fertilization Question: Do Cycads require time release fertilizer in the manner of palms?
PalmatierMeg replied to PalmatierMeg's topic in TROPICAL LOOKING PLANTS - Other Than Palms
Thanks for the info. I don’t have Cycas genus - that scale is merciless - and can’t get Encephalartos to survive here.- 3 replies

Jonathan replied to Jonathan's topic in WEATHER / CLIMATE
And you're about 20C warmer than the bottom end of the country! I'm not complaining though, it's been pretty a good autumn to date. -

This is down at Cradoc Tim, duplex soil, so sandy loam over clay, with a hardpan about 100mm thick between the two, maybe 300mm down. We've deep ripped to 600mm and planted into the riplines, drains freely. I'm thinking fungal issues most likely, though haven't had any other issues like this so far. -
https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61574171855296 Thanks y'all. It's still a ways off, but it looks like I'm gonna need to build another shelf, I have no idea what to grow, I'm gonna have to cut some stuff I don't wanna cut... I hope she likes pink princess philodendrons 😂 And I've got lots of alocasia corms and a good 20 more rare ones to start. Some of my props are surprising me, but this doesn't look like it's gonna be the kinda place where I can get away with McDonald's cups and nursery pots with masking tape labels lol..

I think it accumulates from roots and over a long period of time so shavings should be fine. I would use them!

International Climate Comparison: The "Elevation-Defying" Cfa Island of Stachen (425m)
Mazat replied to Mazat's topic in WEATHER / CLIMATE
Thank you so much for the data and your insights, Foxpalms—that’s really fascinating. A friend of mine from Ireland, near Dublin, once told me that there are some very mild areas in London. It’s truly fascinating to see how different locations and conditions create heat islands. Our guests here are usually in for a shock because of the temperature differences when they visit from places as far away as 15 minutes, but they like it. Otto, who travels all over the world on business, is amazed every time; he was in Manaus just last year and near Miami the year before last—he almost stayed there, he liked it so much. He hasn’t been to London yet, only near Liverpool, but it’s nice and cooler there, isn’t it? -
I took a look at the data. Thanks so much for the info, Than. You're in a tough spot, too, really. Yeah, I'd play it safe as well. Yeah, it's really dangerous on a slope. And something really stupid actually happened to me—I got distracted on Monday evening and wanted to fill in some more soil. In any case, my phone probably fell into the mound of dirt and I couldn’t find it anymore. Besides, you shouldn’t be doing things like that late at night. We searched and dug, but nothing happened. Then I wanted to get a new one—or rather, the same model—which was all set to be reserved nearby. But when I stopped by on Tuesday, they didn’t have it; they said there had been a mistake and that particular model was sold out. Then on Wednesday I headed toward Konstanz, and they had it at the discount store there. I bought it, but I still needed a SIM card, so I ordered one, and it’ll be in the mail tomorrow. To top it all off, Sabine was on duty the whole time and she needs her own cell phone, so I’m only getting around to this today—it’s a disaster. I had to postpone two appointments because of this nonsense... somehow it’s really strange—we searched everywhere and found nothing, as if it had just vanished. In the end, we had to laugh anyway—me at my lack of focus and Sabine at me. PS:Sorry for the late reply. The plants are doing well here so far; thanks to the extreme conditions, they’ve grown a lot. I’ll take some pictures once everything is set up again—hopefully tomorrow.

Welp, in my corner of the state, we were OK. About an hour southwest of me, and a couple hours to the north, it's bad. And we're supposed to get more nasty this weekend. Some reports say up to 11 dead, some reports say nobody died, some reports say there's people still missing. Damn nature, you scary.

Do you know if these properties from Kauri timber are leached out of wood shavings and therefore are unsuitable for mulch?
-
They may be tapping into a pocket of highly acidic podzol once they reach a certain size. Perhaps a good dose of lime might help. Certainly worth a shot. And should perhaps test the soil a metre down. Everything is fine for the first decade or so...

Has it bloomed / leafed-out?

The accordion leaves in the second foto are definitely a symptom of boron deficiency If the pH of the soil is too high or too low, boron and manganese will not be available for the plants even if you supplement it. Low temperature in the root zone works the same way. https://ask.ifas.ufl.edu/publication/EP264

Si I am in Philly pa so we had the normal 20 to 30 degree winter with the exception of 10 days when it was 3 to 10 degrees. The palm looked great last year. I was concerned about the black spots and that rust color on the stem of the frond.

@chris08170817 how did it look last year? Is this just sent all the winter aftermath showed itself? How cold did it get and length of time below freezing? Was it protected? To me it just looks like cold damage but I could be wrong.
