HELP: Becarriopheonix Alfredii Dying?
SCVpalmenthusiast replied to SCVpalmenthusiast's topic in DISCUSSING PALM TREES WORLDWIDETo take it out and put it in a box would be too much work, plus I have no where to put the box. Moving it anywhere will take several guys as it weighs 1000 lbs. Im Gonna buy a fungicide and see if it recovers. If it doesn’t ill chop it down 😓

Texas Palms

Why not grow orchids?
realarch replied to Matt in SD's topic in TROPICAL LOOKING PLANTS - Other Than PalmsAttended the Hilo Orchid Show this past weekend and in a word, spectacular. The displays and offerings were extensive and the crowds large. Planning a trip to Hawaii? This time would be a good time to visit. For me the stars of the show were Paphiopedilum, especially the Paph. Wossner Black Wings. Too bad they were out of specimens, but I did manage to bring home something else. (Separate post) A few photos. Tim -
Why not grow orchids?
realarch replied to Matt in SD's topic in TROPICAL LOOKING PLANTS - Other Than PalmsI rescued this orchid from an ill chosen spot in the garden and gave it a new home. It has since thrived and best of all, the name tag was still attached. No idea when or where it came from, but now I’m a big fan. Tim -

So What Caught Your Eye Today?
Stefanus replied to The Gerg's topic in DISCUSSING PALM TREES WORLDWIDEI just got back from my holidays and was pleasantly surprised to find quite a few seeds had germinated while I was away! I’m guessing the summer heat we’ve had over the past couple of weeks gave them the final push they needed. Among the surprises were Howea Belmoreana, Jubaea × Butia F2, Trachycarpus Princeps × Ukhrulensis, and a few others. During my holiday I also came acros Jubaea × Syagrus. Such an impressive hybrid! -

Stefanus replied to Norwaypalmtrees's topic in COLD HARDY PALMSIts a promising new hybrid from Victor, but I suspect that it will be less hardy than the other hybrids I have already. Please keep sending updates over time, I will follow with interest. -
