The Amazon!

Excited to see updates on this trip😁

Interesting architecture in one  of the most landlocked cities in the world. No road  from Lima. Half million people. 
 

Plenty of Portuguese tiles, the yellow church on the main plaza and  a super rare building by G. Eiffel ( yes as in the Eiffel Tower)!

Cruising on the Amazon. All.kinds of watercraft were out.

Welcome to the jungle!

Some of us walked around the lodge and I snapped a quick photo next to a Ceiba tree. 

A jungle trek before dinner at the Ceiba Tops Lodge led by palm experts and IPS Directors Gregg Hamann and Andrew Street!

We traveled by boat yesterday to a second ecolodge for breakfast prior to an incredible canopy walk. 
 

I am hopeful that others will post photos of that adventure that pushed against our comfort zone in a good way!

However I must admit that the face to face encountering with Charlie the capybara is first in my mind.
 

 

Below is an example of the walk ways between the dining area and the accommodations. 

I will ask others to post palm better palm photos as breakfast awaits and internet is limited. 
 

Here’s a glimpse of yesterday’s trek. 

During COVID when indoor plants collections increased, I imagine this beautiful aroid would have been worth a fair amount.

1002 feet-another amazing day.

Most of our lodging doesn’t have in room internet so taking a moment to post while stopped for lunch!

Many beautiful views along the walk to the ruins! Not a palm viewing day but pretty bromeliads and some orchids too. 
 

The wet season begins in October I am told and after that many more blooms.
