Surprise survivals of Xmas freeze 2022

I lost two 5 gallon plus sized Butia paraguayensis x PJCs after this winter in Houston. They almost immediately showed signs of total burn after the freeze (low of 17? 18?). All leaves quickly turned brown and the spear pulled. I treated with copper and H2O2 a few times. I probably should have trunk cut them.

In contrast, nearly all my palms spear pulled but survived. Mules, BxPJT, BxPJS, etc. The other weird fatality was a 5 gallon size Butia eriospatha. That one makes no sense to me.

Did the mule spear pulled ?

Well I thought the Bismarck was a goner and cut it back tremendously.  Just happened to look at it and I've got new growth.  Obviously a long road to recovery but what should I be doing now to help it.  Fertilizer, fungicide?  I applied copper fungicide last month.

Hope your bizzie takes off and makes a recovery. I have one here in Lake Charles, La that I had to cut off after the 2021 freez and it fully recovered.  Recovered after a few stunted leaves, grew like crazy summer of 2021. Doubled in height summer of 2022. Winter of 2022 we got down to about 20° or possibly less but I wrapped it with a blanket and put a light bulb on it.  Had no damage. Long story short I think yours will be fully recovered by July

6 month update : Everything has grown out of it nicely. Caryota Mitis has made 100% comeback from the 5 original stems. BxPJT and BxLytoWedd are putting on some size with the Lyto showing to be faster. BxMonty showing off its blue parent. Forgot to take a pic of my Causiarum but it has put out 5 new fronds since the initial spear pull.

Yeah we painted the house ourselves , what a project. Went much easier then I thought it was gonna be honestly tho. The white definitely makes the landscape pop for sure.

Nice TJ!  I remember the palms but didn't remember the paint color...

Not sure I’d call it a surprise survivor since I did protect it,  as high as I could reach anyway. Nevertheless I’ll say I’m very pleased that this coconut on the right survived this last Christmas, the foxtail in back also survived that freeze, the coconut on the left was not in-ground yet at the time.

Corpus Christi, TX, near salt water, zone 9b/10a! Except when it isn't and everything gets nuked.

Look what we have here. So after 18months in the ground my Sabal minor var Louisiana just started to throw some seed stalks. To me this seems awfully fast for 3yrs from a band size from @Phil Jungle Music. I knew this variety was fast but man this seems quick. Anyone else had similar growth rates of this variety ?
