Ravenea musicalis… if the fruit is ripe, you have to open them carefully, as they have almost certainly sprouted inside, even the small fruit like this one

This year my Pritchardia gained some height. Now I don’t have to trim it so close . For a few years the fronds would be overhanging a pathway right at face level . It is now overhead. Looking up at the new , opening fronds caught my eye. HarryIMG_0957.thumb.jpeg.3e2c22a01e2be510d80643aaa71fa9e4.jpeg

‘This was so very small when I planted it next to my house in about 2000 or so. Nice to look up and know I won’t have to trim healthy fronds in order to walk down my pathway. It is starting to form a full canopy , blending with a large C. Lutescens on the other side of the path.

Rhopaloblaste elegans

I have got two of them and absolutely no trouble except some snail bites here and threre - I am looking forward to get

them (hopefully) growing up.

Manicaria triple fruit

I’ll have to do some research, is Manicaria related to Phytelephas? Man, a lot of similarities between the seed.

different subfamilies so not as close as one would think, if you squint hard enough there are convergent traits all over Arecaceae

Nanner, not a palm - but this thing just came in the mail last Saturday, I think it was Tuesday or Wednesday when I took it out of its plug pot. Already opening a new leaf. Lowkey scared to see what it does when it gets in the sun and I start fertilizing and giving it compost if this is what it's done in 3 days with basically no roots under a 5 watt bulb. IMG_20250919_202150.thumb.jpg.55664493a6cc0e61bc050cad3b81f412.jpg

Brahea Super Silver really starting to look the part now.

Germinated in 2017 so about 8 years from seed to actually silver. It’s a rewarding palm to grow and goes through a nice transition from green to aqua/blue to blue/silver.

Spectacular, my friend, your Super Silver Brahea. I germinated some. I think I'll have to germinate more. How old is your Super Silver?

Fantastic specimen, Tim.
Unfortunately, we had only seen two specimens in the wild, and that was several years ago in southern Switzerland in Ticino.
