Wow!  That is looking good. Love the color on the crown shaft when these big Chrysalidocarpus drop a leaf. 

Flower just opened on Chrysalidocarpus Hovomantsina hybrid. This is the second flower. The first is developing seed and I’ll be curious to see if any of it sprouts.

also, the main reason i came into this thread, new Calyptrocalyx reflexus leaf, didnt know it has only been recorded from a single site until i read Bill Baker’s amazing PoNG book:

Noticed this Crysalidocarpus hovomantsina dropped a leaf sheath in the last few days, the kind of sight that gives palm gardeners heart palpitations. The coloration is always unique.

Thanks for the photo Knell, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a mature L. laevis before and didn’t realize it had that dark pink crown shaft coloring similar to L. halleuxii.  

 

Chry. bejofo doing its colorful display, it fades relatively quickly so it is a fairly rare event

Was surprised to see this fairly large Chrysalidocarpus carlsmithii growing in Brisbane suburbs yesterday.

 

Colpothrinax aphanopetala, really cool palm that seems to love Hawaii

Iguanura from Borneo. First seed set and seem to be ripening of the seeds. Nice clumping palm that handles Brisbane climate. A gift from a friend many years ago.

Well here is the palm that I first posted about that started this whole thread. (Becarriophoenix Madagascariensis) So I figured I would give an update. If you compare it to the very first post you will see that the very highest leaf tip in that first post was about as high as the top of the white wall behind it. These pics are taken approximately just a little over two years later. Not a rocket by any means, but it continues to be a pretty steady grower.

But something new that caught my eye…..a couple of new red leafs. Chambeyronia macrocarpa and Chrysalidocarpus decipiens.

A bit over shared but i still love my Chambeyronias.  This one popped open this week and grabbed my eye from a distance.

Saw this nice Oncosperma tigillarum and some clumping palm with red stems today in Darwin

Oh to live in a tropical climate again…

 

Actinorhytis calapparia early morning. I planted two of these in one part of the garden, they declined and eventually died. Tried again with two more on the other side of the property and they have thrived.

Beccariophoenix alfredii is soaking up second Summer heat today (Californians know. 97 today). I'm tempted to trim some of the lower fronds, but tattered as they may be, they're still green and going to help the palm, going into it's second winter.
