My Copernicia rigida is no longer blue... it's SILVER! I thought about posting this in a previous thread, but I think it needs its own thread. I can't say enough about this plant--it's just so gnarly and impressive all at once. I am rambling and I hear the music being played--thank you. Enjoy!

    You can't determine a palms' age unless you grow it from seed. I did not grow this from seed. Having said that, I planted it about a couple years ago I think. It was below the chain link fence at that time.

    Easy come easy go (the silver hue) on many palms. Let's hope it does not happen on this plant.

    That almost has a pandanus look to it at that size (but obviously 100 x cooler). Such a great looking palm.

    It's a shame that IMO, it appears to be loosing it's silver color and is greening up.....

    It will be fun to watch this one, especially driving by.

    Yeah, it's totally greening up-good eye. Looking closer, today, it may be dying... 

    Stop in, next time you drive by and I will show the rest of what I am trying to grow; and I could really use some advice on growing rare palms from the man himself!

    It will take a while and it may be expensive as all get out, but you will find one, if you keep looking... recently went shopping and rigida--never mind the blue one, is super expensive! :bemused:

    You keep giving updates because you enjoy this palm so much!  I think most of us are equally interested in watching it progress as well.  They have such a unique structure, just a beautiful plant!

    I don't notice any less color. At least in person. I don't know much about photography...

    It just happens. It's usually a juvenile trait with color and then outgrows it. And probably partly due to our high humidity and rains. I had one do the same thing. You'll learn it's something you don't get too excited about.

    All of the latest pictures have been from the side--as you would view it from standing. The silver pics are when I stand on my truck and take them from above. That silvler has not gone away, and is indeed creeping onto the abaxial side of the leaves. This tells me that the wax is becoming more intense.I will get an update, as you guys will no doubt have disbelief. Guess I don't have enough credit for anyone to take my word...
