Nice palms in pots everyone... Well, most of my palms and cycads here are still in pots and conteiners of various sizes...some 4 to 500 species, around 2000 pots...and it's been a lot of work having them all hand watered 3 times a week during our dry summer (also a great pleasure to see the results, many times!!...)...not to mention the endless re-potting job every other week... My natural soil in the place by the sea is pure (and poor) sand, unsuited for anything but coconuts and other few sandloving monocots, quite hard to both fert and irrigate properly. So, I use organic compost and coarse river sand as a mix in the pots as I'm saving many of these plants for future pantings at other locations, including the Palm garden of my dreams...who knows in a couple years time...

Len, Ben says in that thread this dwarf "displays a nice red spear and has quite cupped leaflets." I don't think I would use those terms to describe our Big Red. And note, it seems the blue tint is leaving my palm. Anyway - here's some pics of mine. Ours are about the same size. Perhaps I should start "racing" you on this one.

Not Red, but this is the most color my B. khogiensis has shown:

I'm having problems with my $14.95 cell phone, but not sure if it's related or not.
