I'm a bit tired and have to force myself to take pics, but here are some of "the boys". Camera "warm ups" within an hour of arrival at Mission Bay.

Here's a few different shades of green (and grey!)

This was a great tour of some beautiful S. Calif. palm gardens, but I didn't see any pics. of Parajubaeas. Isn't there a large one growing across the street from Ralph's place? Love to see some pics of them if you guys got any. Also, are there any groupings of Parajubaeas planted anywhere in S. Cal.? I'm growing up about a dozen to be planted in a suitable location in the SF Bay Area, preferably in Oakland or San Francisco, and where they can be seen by the public. Dick

As others approached, the word of the "Brahea decumbens ahead" was passed along....

Same thing for Brahea Pimo.

Then some Livistona Carinensis, smaller and larger.

We headed out to "see the Huntington" with at least 10 palmtalk members together. (Have someone else post group photo here) First pic I shot was this Variegated Trachy. Look at those stripes!!!

As we left and headed north, Kim said she was game to touch "something big at PogoBobs". So she obliged. We all watched. But she had her eyes closed the whole time. Then we left.

SO, we met MattyB and Pohonkelapa for::::::: what else? ... . . . wait for it... SUSHI at Pauls local fave place. I found out Jeff was a SUSHI vigin........

We soon departed Cuesta Linda and headed to Lens before the sun set. I was too stupid to take many pics as I had been there several times before. (Doesn't do you much good, does it? ) Len does have a cool place, with draft beer out by the pool cabana or bar-b-que or whatever you call it. Here they are at Lens place. You can also see Lens replacement palm, a nice Bizzy, just over Kens left shoulder (his left)

Jeff is taking notes about it to see if he has one kicking around at his place... Garys like me. Crying over the fact that he doesn't have one either.

OK, Here it is. Considering the freeze from last year and the cold Dec. we had, this "Dypsis sp "White Stem"" is looking pretty good. I know of it at 3 houses. Anywhere. Total. Thats it. No more. I want someone to take one to Hawaii and get seed in my lifetime.

Quite the dicussion ensued. Jeff said his was 3 feet tall, Ken said he had 4 foot ones.... I thought it was a trunkless palm.

We saw one of Gary's new favorite palms. A Brahea Moorei.

We arrived at Gary L's place after a delay to get Ken a replacement camera. (Later the old one was found, but won't be retrieved until Saturday) Here l to r, Gary, Len (LJG), and Jeff listen to Ken regale about moving a palm or two...as Garys great view resides in the back. This is the Garden that had the fire go thru just months ago.

Just one tonite... Matty suprised us first thing this morning at the Container Ranch. He thought there was gonna be Ranch Hand tryouts....

Then a quick jaunt to Rick L's where I spied a "Joey" in the ground, I was shocked!!!!

After Bob's, he took us to Ron S's in San Clemente also to see his place and the GIANT Dypsis Big Curly in front.

As, I said early on, I'm notoriously bad at remembering to take pictures! I enjoy the moment!!! But, I'm sure the guys will have plenty to post soon. This is a fatty Rhopy var "Chatham Island" they liked a lot we saw at Pogobobs after leaving Deans. Oh yes, Ken found a beer at Bobs to warm him up...

Yeah, we need a little excitement in Calif. since O.J. is in the slammer. I'm sure the Florida boys will drumm up a little excitement. Nice to see them standing under the one palm they can't grow in S. Florida. Dick
