  1. Good evening, I am the happy owner of a juvenile palm looking like a phoenix sp because of the concavity of its leaflets. In some aspects it looks like Phoenix roebelinii but as I own roebelliniis also it is for me quite obvious it maybe something else. The informations I got from the seller are the following but are not 100 % sure : - It may come from Asia. - There are few palms remaining in its area because of a flood which destroyed the ecotype. Could you help me please to identify it :

  2. I ordered a Phoenix dactylifera "Medjool" a year and a half ago. I understood it getting defoliated last winter, but it looked like this after lows of 23F and a couple of heavy frosts this winter. The damage is almost the same as my Phoenix humilis which is about 30' away. I have another dact about 30' away in the other direction and it looks like this. Which one isn't a dact?

  5. Hello Phil: I see the acanthophylls in the petioles of the palm. I put yellow arrows in your photos Check your palm searching the spines. They may be hidden because are young leaves Cheers

  6. My view is completely uneducated (which you no doubt know by now) but I daresay the bottom photo is less like a date palm than the top.

  11. Hi Kris! I'm so glad you posted the update! I missed it back when you started the thread - what a nice palm you have there, and thanks for the repotting details. I now think I need to add one of these lovely silvery palms to my yard.
