  1. join the PRA team as they host east coast luminary jeff "007" searle thru a breathtaking bevy of garden tours! friday afternoon the activities include touring the gardens of myself & mattyb. we are oozing plant geekiness as we check out mattyb's near-vertical garden. bill sanford is trying to get his ears to pop due to the elevation. his race is actually "vanilla" on government records. here bill teaches jeff how to read.

  2. My favorite palm at the tour was what Mardy said was a Ravenea. The fronds where about twenty five feet plus and the plant was not even close to trunking. The petioles were probably two inces in diameter. Some of you may remember seeing it.

  6. Looks like a healthy specimen you got there Raphael. I'm sure it will be a great addition to your collection. I'm not familiar with Washingtonias, I have Livistona rotundifolia by the dozen, and something that looks similar but with dark thorns or is it the other way round. I was not fond of palms with thorns for a long time, but have come to accept some now. Hope you are pleased with your new acquisition. Kris, Scott, outstanding specimens. Now I'm wanting to add one to my collection.

  7. a beautiful sunset was arranged just to impress the foreign guy(jeff). dr.pepper & other beverages flowed freely into the nite. bill has never met a vegetable stick he doesnt like & yes, even admire. jeff is already homesick & decides to end it all with grilled corn. it happens more than you'd think.

  9. William, I have had three in the ground now for a number of years that don't look too dissimilar to yours...I have seen them described here as the weeping form. The single stemmed form pictured is growing a few feet from these other three and has quite a sizeable trunk and wide leaf scars... cheers...

  10. This looks similar to a dwarf variety of D. lutescens I have seen sold over here. Those don't exceed 4 feet.
