  1. Mine stated blooming last year at 4' tall, not very bright pink compared to 'rosea' or the very colorful 'fan silk'. I have a little chocolate one I't trying to make into a small planter tree.

  3. some seem to be more colorful than others; around here we see green forms and very silver forms (maybe prunifera instead). IOnly way to really separate them is by tubular vs. no tubular flowers. Anyone know another way? Below is pic from May 2006 (bamboo has grown around it now, a bit difficult to photo but its still chugging along, prob. 5 or 6 ft higher. The wood fence is 6 ft high. It was planted from a 3g in '96. more recent pic

  6. Potassium deficiency is tough to correct. It takes time and patience. If you can get some, use Potassium-Magnesium Sulfate to minimize the chance of inducing a Magnesium deficiency when you supplement Potassium. I have to do that here in FL too but I'm less than thrilled with the results. I can't really tell you that I've ever seen it disappear. For what it's worth, Potassium deficiency is among the top causes of palm death in FL. Washingtonia is remarkably susceptible, and W. filifera is virtually impossible, especially if irrigated overhead with sprinklers.
