Just a few more pics of young plants, in the middle of a mostly native garden. Even with competition from the non-palm species, the S. minor grows like crazy. These pics are of a second year multi-trunk plant. Max leaf height 4 ft. No problem with drought, and can even be flooded for a while. Great small palm.
The person who bought Pauleen Sullivan's 11 acre Kapoho property lives in Kapoho. He intends to leave some of the palms in place on the 11 acres, but sell some of them and use them for landscaping other properties in the general area. As unfortunate as it would be to see Pauleen's palm paradise get decimated, I've come to believe that this may not be a bad thing. I have met the person who bought the property, and he intends to spread the palms in the neighborhood (a good thing) while probably leaving most of the palms on the 11 acres in place (another good thing).
