Today I bought 4 new palms. 2 Corypha utan and 2 Prichardia pacifica. All in 200 mm pots, but the Prichardias are getting too big for those pots. Trouble now is where to put them. Buying them seemed like such a good idea when I saw them. But it's really the wrong time of year to be planting palms (or any plants) out. They're really pot bound and need to be freed up. And I've already got 16 palms (10 species) overdue for planting out.

Hi We have seen a few posts on Superthrive and similar products, here is a link about promoting faster overall growth with the use of stimulants. What does everyone think? Has anyone tried these things and what are your results? Stimulants

These days i tryed to purchase some palms unavailable in Europe. I made a request to someone in the USA, and, after payment, and without phytosanitary certificate, i have decided to take a risk, in order to have some palms of my dream. They were shipped, and, after arriving in Lisbon, they got caught by foreign costums, and they are asking for that certificate. As i do not have it, they will destroy them (or, otherwise, someone working there, will take them to his yard). Now i understand it is useless to take that risk. I payed, i have no palms, i am horribly depressed because of that. I am desperated, cause i cannot find some species i want. Thats very sad...

rafael and very sad in Italy can not buy plants from outside EU customs controls everything stops, checks take about two months, and the plants die

That IS very sad Rafael. IS there a chance you could email the seller in the US and ask them to fax either a certificate or the like to you or your countries customs ? If the seller is reputable, and is experienced in international shipments, they should be able to provide the necessary paperwork. It seems a shame for everybody to have gone to such trouble.....all for nothing. Good luck - keep us appraised. Regards Michael.

I haven't been to Quail Gardens for about 5 years. I'd like to make it.

Hi Kris, What a long thread, very interesting, love all the different types of plants you are growing and all the pots everywhere. Best of all I love the satellite dish used for shade - now that is thinking. Great garden, keep up all the hard work. Regards Stephen

Kris, Well, there's actually a good amount of space (post 37) for the Corypha utan to spread out once it gets bigger. Maybe not as much as I would like! But, most of the palms planted nearby are going to remain small, and if I need to remove something 10-15 years from now, well that's always a possibility I guess! Bo
