  1. -Did you know PalmTalk now supports the uploading of multiple photos? You can choose 4 at a time to upload. (I may change that to 5) When posting a photo look for "Help with attaching files" Try our advanced uploader which supports multiple file uploading (modern browser required)" Then proceed and look for "Enable Flash Uploader." Check it and you will then be able to choose multiple files to be uploaded all at once. -Did you know there appears to be an option for a "skin" that makes using the Forum from mobile devices easier and faster. A PalmTalk Lite, so to speak. Has anyone tried PT from an mobile device yet? I'm not sure if it is activated. -Did you know multiple members can now join in your PMs, since they now take the form of a regular thread? -Did you know clicking on the PT logo takes you to the Main Page? -Did you know you can get rid of the "new" column on the right (on the Main Page) by clicking on the tiny "x" at the top of the column? If you want it back, look for the very tiny little "gizmo" in approximately the same place. If you find any more tips & tricks, let us know. I'll do the same.

  2. Inspired by Wal in the past, and just recently Steve, I decided to video my front yard planted palms. I thought about waiting for overcast, but I'm a "in the moment" guy, so that didn't work. Anyway the quality is so-so and near as I can tell its the best my camera can take. (Hey its probably 5 years old or so, what do you want?)But it gives you a good idea of what the dealio is.. The last ones are big, may be tonite before they are up.

  8. Got a pic of it? Its not the "branching" that I find so strange, its the "clumping", and "air rooting" that this one was/ is doing in a crown of what must be 15-20 heads. Ive seen branching ones before. In fact there is a nice branched one at Gizella Kopsick Palm Arboretum in downtown St. Petersburg, FL that I check on each time I visit my friend in St. Pete. Here it is as photographed last week on my trip down:

  9. Let's keep our fingers crossed because there is further warming in the tropical Pacific & favorable movement of Madden-Julian oscillation [a reinforcing tropical circulation]. High pressure could ruin it for SoCal but we are entering for favorable rain conditions none-the-less. Here's recent discussion from NWS_SF: ENJOY THE DRY WEATHER WHILE IT LASTS...A RAINY WEEK IS STILL EXPECTED TO KICK OFF MONDAY WITH A CHANCE OF SHOWERS. ACCORDING TO THE CLIMATE PREDICTION CENTER EL NINO STRENGTHENED DURING DECEMBER, WITH ABOVE AVERAGE SEA SURFACE TEMPERATURES ENCOMPASSING THE CENTRAL AND EASTERN EQUATORIAL PACIFIC OCEAN. WEEKLY VALUES OF THE NINO 3.4 INDEX INCREASED SLIGHTLY WITH THE MOST RECENT VALUES REACHING +1.8C. ADDITIONALLY...THE MJO IS CURRENTLY IN PHASE SPACE 7 WHICH IS A PREFERABLE PHASE FOR A WET PATTERN TO DEVELOP. WHAT THIS ALL BOILS DOWN TO IS ENHANCED CONFIDENCE IN A WET FORECAST FOR THE UPCOMING WEEK. IN FACT...THE CPC 6 TO 10 OUTLOOK SUGGESTS ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION FOR THE ENTIRE CALIFORNIA COAST.

  10. There is a very helpful "HELP" button in the upper right. When I went there, this is what I found. "Reputation: If enabled, you will see reputation options in the corner below each post. You may see an icon representing the reputation other members have given for that post, along with icons to give reputation. To give the post a positive reputation, click the icon or to give the post a negative reputation, click the icon. You may only be able to give positive or negative reputation, and for some users you may not be able to give reputation at all." I am still debating on whether to keep it active. But there are a few other items of more importance at the moment.
