The September meeting of the Palm Society of Southern California is going to be on Saturday September 16 at the amazing garden of Ralph Velez in Westminster. For those who don't know Ralph, he has over 400 species growing, and quite a few of the palms are ~40 years old. We'll also be touring a local park where Ralph has been able to create a palm island for the public. As always, there will be an auction at the meeting. There's usually a lot of rare palms at these auctions, and usually some great deals. More details are on the PSSC webpage

CFPACS September 12 Meeting - Brevard Beaches You are invited to join CFPACS for our September 12 meeting - All are welcome! Our first stop: Our day will begin with a tour of Scott Ward’s Indialantic garden. Scott’s garden is a meticulously maintained “jungle” featuring palms, cycads and bromeliads. Scott began the transformation of his property from a typical subdivision lot into a tropical paradise in 1995. The palm canopy that he has created provides much shade to make understory plants (and garden visitors) comfortable during hot summer days. After visiting Scott’s garden we will break for lunch (on your own) before our second stop. There are many restaurants…

THE PSSC’S MARCH, 2012 MEETING AND AUCTION The Palm Society of Southern California’s March, 2012 meeting will be held at the Los Angeles County Arboretum, in Arcadia, California on March 31, 2012. We will be in the “Palm Room,” appropriately enough. The staff will be glad to give directions. For those who have never seen it, the Arcadia Arboretum is one of the best of its kind around. Those who have been there before probably don’t need a reminder, but here’s one anyway. The Arboretum has a very nice palm and cycad collection, planted near the cottage used in the filming of “Fantasy Island” and a pond. There are other plant collections, famously includ…
