 The Palm Beach Palm & Cycad Society will be haveing its annual spring sale March 23 & 24, at the Mounts Botanical Garden in West Palm Beach Fl. The garden is on Military Trail, between Southern Blvd. and Belvedere Rd. " And its Free".No admission charge during the sale.The hours are 9:00 to 4:00 on Saturday and 9:00 to 3:00 on Sunday.While you are shopping for some good deals on palms and cycads, you can tour a nice small garden. We will have also fertilizer and books etc.Lots of free advice and help loading your purchases.  The Palm Beach Palm and Cycad Society will be holding its annual picnic and huge auction at Ruth's beautiful palm garden in Lantana, Florida on September 4th. There has been a delay due to Ruth's recent accident but barring a hurricane, it will go on as planned. If you will be in SoFla that weekend, we hope to see you there. We will eat about 11:30 and begin the auction by 12:30 to try to beat the afternoon showers. The garden will be open at 9:30 so you can wander through the mature palms and exotics. This would be a good time to get together with your fellow palmophiles and catch up on all of the news. We would like to invite all societies and since PACSOF doesn't seem to be planning anything soon, it would be a good time for us all to get together.  I hope that everyone is making plans to join us at Ruth Sallenbach's fabulous garden in 2 weeks. The date will be September 17. Here are a few updates. The gate will be open at 8:30. Dale will lead a tour of the garden at 9:30. Lunch will be at 12:00 and the auction will start at 1:00. Bring a potluck dish and any type of plant for the auction.  The banquet will be at the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach on January 18th 2014. The address is 1107 Jamboree Rd. Newport Beach. The banquet cost is $45.00. Parking is $8.00 per vehicle.  The September meeting of the Palm Society of Southern California is going to be on Saturday September 16 at the amazing garden of Ralph Velez in Westminster. For those who don't know Ralph, he has over 400 species growing, and quite a few of the palms are ~40 years old. We'll also be touring a local park where Ralph has been able to create a palm island for the public. As always, there will be an auction at the meeting.
