My neighbor has a couple of these that he left in big tree pots for way too long. He’s in the San Diego area, and it appears they’re both nearly head high. But he’d like to see them go to a good home.

Free Brahea armata & armata hybrid
by Josue Diaz- 1 reply
I have several hundred seedlings of mixed armata and armata hybrid. The seed for the hybrid came from @DoomsDave and are off his "frankenbrahea" hybrid. The pure armata came from a local armata. I was growing these in ground and was slowly potting them up, but I'm having some cement work done and had to pull these out lest they be removed or buried beneath concrete. Free! Come take as many as you'd like - no shipping sorry. For pick up in Fresno.

Leucothrinax Morrisii Seeds

So I collected this years batch and decided that I just don’t need them since I have a bunch of volunteers popping up near the adult. Also, I haven’t had much luck with germinating them myself even though they seem to be growing well in the ground. Ideally, I would like to send 1 or 2 packages at most. I believe that I have around 40-50 seeds. PM me if you are interested. US only John

Sabal Palmetto seeds
by JohnAndSancho- 2 replies
Tell me how many you want and pay postage. I don't want to count, so let's go from "handful," "a little bit," or a pile. I've still got some Minor too, all of these were collected locally from short and stumpy Palmettos. They've seen temps anywhere from 9° to triple digits, snow, ice, drought, monsoons, pretty much everything except fire and earthquakes.

Mississippi Sabal Minor seeds - FRESH
by JohnAndSancho- 2 replies
I can attest to the cold hardiness of these. They've seen single digits. They've seen snow they've seen ice they've seen triple digits. I don't know how long they've been there, and I left PLENTY. I dunno the legality of this, but I can always tell the cops they're just gonna sprout up and get mowed and the landscapers are just gonna cut. Anyway I've got more than I can ever use, I'm already sending off 2 baggies of them and should still have plenty. Pay postage and I'll send you some. I can get more. Reply here or DM me or whatever. I ain't cleaning them 😂

I have a few seedlings and small palms that I am willing to give away to anyone in or passing through the San Antonio area. I am not interested in shipping anything right now. First up, I have I sabal I bought as a S. causiarum. It does grow more quickly than palmetto or mexicana, but it took damage in the ground last winter at 27F and burned 100% at 23fF. So, I am not sure if it is actually causiarum. I have a trio of W. filifera as well: About a half dozen P. dactylifera seedlings, as well as one lager one that is already pinnate: And a fishtail I grew from seed. It won't last the winter here. So, it is either going to burn u…

Palm trees going begging in SoCal (SB)
by Sean Osborne- 0 replies
This post will take a bit of patience. Hi folks, I’m in an … interesting situation. I have recently taken over caring for my father, Barry Osborne’s, extensive palm tree collection in Santa Barbara. Dad pretty much gave up on it 10 years ago do to failing health, and when his elaborate drip irrigation setup began to fail, Mom had some gardeners put in sprinklers. This is Santa Barbara. The water bills are immense. I am slowly re-establishing the drip irrigation system and phasing out the sprinklers. But. There are dozens of palm tree seedlings and some good-sized volunteers which have come up in the watered area over the past decade. Once I shift over to dr…

3 Sabal Palmetto - Non-Lisa Lisas
by Josue Diaz- 3 replies
I have three Sabal palmetto Lisas that are not showing the Lisa trait (fused leaflets). I don't want to dig and ship these, but if anyone is in the Fresno area and would like to dig them up and take them they are free to a good home. They'll make nice, standard Sabal palmettos. Once they get too big, I'll likely dig and dispose of them. Josue

free Hunter boots

My pair is well worn but still in excellent condition, US men's size 9. There is really nothing gender specific about these boots, the women's equivalent would be 10.5 or 11. I can't wear them any longer due to an increase in my calf diameter. Local pick-up at my garden only,... a six pack of microbrew dark ale would be appreciated ! https://hunterboots.com/products/mens-original-tall-rain-boots-in-green-mft9000rma-hgn13?variant=46499671671076

Jury is out on weather papaya will pollinate, but other vasconcella will. Cuttings are BIG My poor tree was loaded with fruit too 😢

Chamaedorea microspadix, large pot of three plants
by Darold Petty- 1 reply

I had 5 plants in the ground along the perimeter of my garden. After a gopher attack I had 3 plants with just a few roots, too few roots to support the plants and keep the stems upright. Rather than discard these 3 palms I packed them tightly into a large container. That was about 14 months ago. All 3 survived and have begun new growth, including new shoots from the soil line. I am fairly certain that both genders are present in these 3 palms. The overall height is about 7 feet tall. (I'm not kidding, can you get this in your vehicle ?) Please note that there are at least 2 forms within this species. This form has narrow leaflets with a green backsid…

seeds of Rhopalostylis baueri v. Cheesemanii
by Darold Petty- 4 replies

I have approximately 50 seeds from last autumn's harvest. The harvest date was November 17th, 2024. Free to the first respondent within the 48 contiguous American states. If you don't require so many, then play it forward and distribute some to other persons. My parent tree comes from wild collected seed by Keith Boyer in the 1980's. I obtained it as a 4 inch seedling from Keith's friend and my mentor, the late Garrin Fullington. I ground planted the parent tree April 13th, 1986. Because of my always too cool microclimate the parent tree makes seed only every 2 or 3 years. I gave seed to Jungle Music several years ago, so if you purchased this species from Phil it …
