by DoomsDave- 1 reply
- 2.3k views
Howdyall: I have some Chamadorea radicalis seeds to give away, no charge. These are all from female tree-type plants, with pollen from nearby male bush-types. Hardy as sorrow, and persistent as the Reaper. Great pot plant, even in Alaska, etc. Please shoot me a PM, with the words "Chamadorea radicalis seeds" in the subject, plus your address in the message and I'll mail some to you. I'm going to wait a couple weeks to gauge interest, then send the seeds out in a couple of weeks or so. Best Dave

Sabal: You Name it, You Got It...Free Seeds
by AggiePalms- 4 replies
- 2.2k views
Hey everybody I think the pictured trees are an unusual Sabal variety; they are growing nearby to my house, and are native I assume? They get large (up to 3-5 m) and costapalmate with very twisted leaves - more like S. maritima and some of the other non-native species. Not so much like typical S. palmetto or S. minor, or have I just been missing this variety all these years? These grow right down to the brackish water line, no more than 30 cm above the water, on a very small island. They are very hardy, having survived temperatures of c. -9C. If you can tell me what variety of S. palmetto/minor these are, I will happily send you some very fresh seeds. If you can…

This has been in my raised planter for a year from a 5gal. The under sides of the leaves are silver. The trunk is a little weird and it hasn't rooted solid yet so it wobbles a little but is growing well. I am replacing it with my new Pritchardia. Your free to come over and take it! I'm digging it out right after this post. PM me is interested.

Hello, everyone: I am giving away a Livistona chinensis palm, aka Chinese fan palm. Pick up and take away only, Labor Day Weekend only, for the reasons noted below. As you can see from the picture it's about 18" (0.5 M) across the base. It will take full sun, high heat and frost. Excellent palm for inland areas, including Riverside and San Bernardino. Also great near the beach, like gnarly. Lush, bright green; lovely when the crown grows back. Tough and not bothered much by pests or disease. Good for a lawn or well-watered garden. Up to 40' tall with time (20 years). It will survive droughts, but much better with regular water. It's already dug, so you don't have to …

Free few Phoenix porphyrocarpa seeds.
by Phoenikakias- 1 follower

I have managed to gather few not malformed seeds. Morher plant looks like a CIDP with straight (not arching) leaves, which are very long; an ideal form for creating canopy. It has remained so far free of any infestation by the formidable rpw, despite that it gets butchered every summer by the neighbour (wounds on palms is an invitation to a feast, during the season the rpw is active), maybe it hides some antibiosis or antixenosis properties, who knows, but fact is fact. It bears super long flower stalks fruits in full maturity taste like real dates. Below you can see those seeds on lower line compared with seeds from a probably feral form of dactylifera. There are only 9 …

I had a fun time germinating some Archontophoenix C. seeds and some Phoenix Canariensis x ? (probably dactylifera)seeds. However now I have a bunch of seedlings that I have no use for, and I just can't bear to get rid of. The king palm seedlings are all in two 1g community pots. The phoenix seedlings are mostly in 4 inch liners. If you can put them to use, "Come and git em!" Sorry, no shipping. I'm in Chula Vista, 10 minutes south of San Diego. PM me if interested, thanks!

Serenoa repens blue

I have 50 fresh fruits/seeds. The who one announces interest first gets them all! I am not however sure whether seeds are viable. This year fruits maturing of this particular plant has been super fast but fruit size is not the big one like oilives it used to be in the past. Also seeds seem to be almost but not fully developed, however one other time that same occured to me on a Livistona decora, seeds had nevertheless a high germination rate, but a abortion can not also excluded. Besides seeds will be sent with flesh because cleaning leaves a nasty stamp like through ink on fingers!

Free posts used for shadecloth structure
by Hilo Jason- 1 reply
- 2.1k views
Rather than put these in a landfill I figured I would see if anyone here had the need for any of these posts that I made for my shadecloth structures. These are 1.5" pvc, about 7-8 feet tall each. The base of each is a 8" x 8" concrete block with the PVC pipe cemented into it. I would bury the bases so you couldn't see them and it added more support to have them buried. These work good if you are looking to cover a section of your yard with shade cloth and not just 1 palm with a shade cloth tent. Pick up in Fallbrook. I have 8 poles available, and the cross section pieces. PM me if interested.

Older seeds - Can't remember if they are 1 year old, or 2 years old. Just don't want to deal with them. No idea if they are still good - and won't bother toying with them. Cover the cost of getting them to you - and if you have something to trade, even better. PM me with the number of seeds you want, and whether you want to offer something in trade or not. (NOT NECESSARY.)

Free Archontophoenix Cunninghamiana

I have decided I no longer want this king palm planted where it is. It's been in the ground for 2 years from a 15 gallon. I know these have touchy roots but I wanted to offer it for free if anyone wanted to take a chance and dig it up. If so, it's yours. If not, then I'll be cutting it down this weekend. Here's a picture: I would say that it is 12 - 13 feet tall.
