   Hey all, we have this palm planted next door, that will either need to be moved or be cut down. It’s in a bit of a tight area, but the good news is that it doesn’t need to be removed before next spring. So root pruning could definitely come into play for anyone who is interested. Seems like a nice palm to have to chain saw..PM me if interested. Thanks!

   I went for a hike in the rain forest near the Naranjo River the other day and collected some fresh Desmoncus sp. seeds. These were collected on private property with the permission of the owner. According to my Costa Rican plant books, there are four species of Desmoncus in this country so I am not sure which species these are. Desmoncus is a climbing palm and is very spiny, so beware! I can send out several small packets of seeds. Please PM me with your name and address.

    Hi. I am helping out the local Punta Gorda elementary school- Sallie Jones- with a landscape project. The school building is basically new but due to budget cuts, there is nothing for landscaping. I am gratefully accepting any donations of cycads, palms or other plants to make the school a beautiful place. I am on the west coast of Florida, 100 miles south of Tampa.     Hello all. I have some D lanceolata seeds that should be ripening up soon. These pictures are from the beginning of January. As you can see the seeds are still green and not ripe yet. When they are ripe, you are more than welcome to them. The only catch is that the tree is in Leilani Estates, Hawaii and I am not. So this is an offer for the local folks over there.     Alright, alright, no brickbats please ! I know this is one of the most overused palms around - I'm sick to death of it myself - but in the very very unlikely event you've been looking for this and failed, then I have gathered some from a luxurious clump belonging to a relative of mine here in Bombay. He was pruning his clump and since I show some interest in his lutescens (for the sake of politeness), he had faithfully kept the seeds, spathe and bracket aside for me before giving the unfortunate palm (15 feet high) the axe. 60 fully formed seed free from structural defects - only till next friday.

    Encephalartos gratus

    The Arboretum has more than we can plant. These E. gratus are in 10" pots, some have a pup but most are single. This particular one has about an 8" caudex and a 3" pup. The fence is a 6 footer for scale. I have 10 of these so first come, first served, one to a customer.

    Free seed of Erythrina humeana, a South African native. Small tree - I cut mine back to grow as small shrub (about 60cm tall) as it does on the coast. It also encourages more flowers. Pic of the mother plant.
