I just need one to replace one that I gave to a neighbor , which is not going to survive . Seems to be impossible to find any in my area . All " nursery's " and retailers , if they have any Chinese fan palms at all , have only the 3 or more in a pot ones. I do not want one of those , even to split them out . Same thing goes for Roebellini's . Will buy if reasonable , but I can trade 1-2 Thrinax Radiata in 6" pots for a 3 gallon or so Chinese . For many years I would rescue 2-3 seedlings per year from my China's , raise them up and generally give them away to friends , but now that I need one , hard to find .

Smaller clustering palm for Phoenix
by Leo in Phoenix- 5 replies
- 1.6k views
Must be willing to ship to metro Phoenix, Arizona. A friend here is looking for a small clustering palm to plant near the sidewalk at the corners of his front yard. He had pygmy date clumps with 4-5 stalks there (Phoenix roebellini) but the past few winters have been too cold for them; only one stalk remains at each corner. There were a lot in his neighborhood and almost all died in the past 2-3 winters. (Must be global warming.) Until recently pygmy dates were just fine here. My first thought was Chamaerops, but he's open to suggestions. He wants to leave the existing palms until they likely freeze. The only Chamaerops we can find locally are in 5 gallon or larger co…

Hi all, as Yucca seeds are not anymore common in Germany I would like to ask if someone is willing to send seeds to me. I'm looking for: Hesperaloe - yellow flower Y. brevifolia (each variety) Y. schidigera Y. harrimaniae (each variety) Y. angustissima (dito) Y. thompsoniana Y. linearifolia Y. arkansana Y. louisianensis etc. and reliable natural or man made hybrids of Yuccas. For sure I would pay for your efforts and shipping these seeds to Europe. In general seeds are not a problem for our customs as I received lots of palm seeds from the US. Please let me now by PM. Thanks Eckhard

Something different : Barking Tree Frogs
by The Silent Seed- 1 reply

I manage and direct, as well as teach in, a nature classroom in a new preschool that my family and I built. That has been keeping me busy, hence my silence lately. I know this is a little off-color, but I know many of you are in the South - I would like to ask if any of you can help me locate some Barking Tree Frogs? I have decided that this is one of the species I would like in a terrarium that I am setting up for the nature classroom. There are some herp vendors online, but I would rather help one of you guys with some extra moolah. I have chosen this species, because it's large enough to be observed easily by the kids unlike the tiny green treefrogs. I also like …

Hello everyone - I've been lurking for a while and finally decided to post. I will be starting a palm tree farm/nursery in the Tampa Bay area in Florida. I almost have land secured for both germinating(local to me) + then acreage for when they are larger(~1 hr drive). For context - my career and previous businesses I've owned are all computer based, mostly focusing around marketing/advertising/internet...I've been "longing" lol - for something "in the real world" and finally settled on this as it seems like it will fit life quite well...in terms of a new business, place to put $$$ besides IRA, Savings, etc.. Anyways - long story short, it appears that seeds …
