Ok, I hear you all laughing I thought they were totally gone (as in zero chance of getting one), but recently learned there are still some large-ish ones for sale in Florida, which made me think... maybe? Does anyone in CA (or drivable from CA) have one of these monsters tucked away in your backyard waiting for a buyer? Or (even less likely) someone in another state with one at a shippable size? I'm assuming the only ones left - if there are any - would be big, but I would be willing to pay a pretty high price for one. Anyone know of a lead? * I have ONE spot in my yard that's reserved for a monster palm (currently occupied by lawn, but the grass is being …

Where can these be reliably sourced? I could never grow these outdoors here, but they look as though they grow fairly easily and quickly. I'd love to give this species a go as an indoor palm.

Tall palm wanted in SW Florida area
by Zeeth- 0 replies
My mom wanted to use some of our tax rebate for making the landscape in the back nice, she wanted something tall, at least 11ft overall. Something crownshafted would be nice, maybe a foxtail, king palm or foxy lady palm (9b-10a). Preferably under $100, we can drive as far as Punta Gorda or up to the St. Pete area. PM me if you have something you think would be good for me. Thanks Keith

Tall type coconuts
by Zeeth- 1 reply
So I was wanting to know if anyone could give me (or trade or sell) one coconut that was grown on a pure tall coconut, pollinated with another pure tall (either hand or with no malayans around, like the two at Kopsick) so that the coconuts will be pure talls, with all the growth speed, hurricane resistance, cold hardiness etc. Jamaican talls are fine, as I've gathered by other people and looking at the numerous LY susceptible palms grown here and no cases of ly that it either doesn't come this way, or doesn't very often. Thanks, Keith

The search for Livistonas
by peachy- 1 reply

This may seem a silly thing to request as both the Livistona Drudei and Livistona sp. 'Blackdown' are native plants to state that I live in, but after 12 years of futile searching I am yet to obtain either of them. I would prefer smaller sizes as I am in a wheelchair and can only manage to dig holes about 200 ml wide and 300 ml deep max. But hey I will be very flexible about this as Iwant them so much. Also if anyone could put me onto a Livistona Robinsoniana (from the Philippines) I would be eternally grateful. Hopefully somebody will have at least one or two of them. Thanks, …
