Very nice Max. I have never heard of Butia "  spiralis". Is it a hybrid or just a genetic variaion? Looks like it allready has a nice blue color to it.

Matt

Matt in Temecula, CA

Hot and dry in the summer, cold with light frost in the winter. Halfway between the desert and ocean

Ciao Matt!!

I  really  don't  have  an  answer!!

The palm  was  a  present, and  my  opinion  ,  that it  is  a  genetic variation  of  a  common  Butia  capitata

Paul,  The  traky  survive  without  any arms,   at  very  low  temperature

We  had  in December   -6c (  18f)  and  a  week  at  -2/3c (24f)  .

In  past  years, we  had  also  -10c ( 10f)  or  more

fortunately  for  few  days .  But  is  a very  rare  event

We  have  snow only  3/4  time  per  century

May  be  the  problems  for  this  Traky  come  in summer!!

I  forgot  to  watering another  Traky  (  the  sister of  the  one  in  the pic),That  was  exposed  north,  and  sun  in  the  afternoon  is  terrific .   We  had  6  months  without  rain

So   I   lost  this  beauty

Next  summer  I  will  have  more  care

Ciao Max,

Beautiful Traky! :P

I have two T. wagnerianus and one T. fortunei, they grow so slow  :(   I´m not sure if they are in the right place. How old is your plant?

I also like to see more pictures of Thachycarpus!

Regards,

Carlos
