The good old lanonia dasyantha the poor man’s mapu

The poor man’s mapu they say, but you don’t have to be poor to appreciate this lovely palm. Get one with some good mottled leaves and there quite impressive in the garden or container. There are quite a few different varieties of the dasyantha around with different levels of mottling, a large form variety, green varieties and some are just plain old dasyanthas with very little mottling. The large form shows good mottling with the first leaf so a good choice there can be made. I have not yet grown any large form ones in the ground yet so iam still yet to see how large they can get. Dasyanthas a top quality palm with a good cool tolerance just add water!
