Wet climate W Filiferas

Featured Replies

Spotted these two nice Filifera examples in Picayune, Mississippi. A place with wet weather year round.

Despite what some folks believe, W. filifera can do very well in humid areas.  These in the Harlingen, Texas Lowe's parking lot aren't getting a ton of rain but it's usually extremely humid.  There are several in the area although the majority are the robusta variant.

The Post Office in Bokeelia has a nice one:

Up until about 20 years ago there were some at a hotel in Tifton, GA next to I75 (mile marker 60ish). They were removed as part of a huge construction project there. Last I saw there is palmetto at the size. The filiferas were big, 16 to 20 ft tall.
