Pindo Palm seed cracked and germinated

Featured Replies

Just perlite on a heat mat plugged into a 12 hour on/ 12 our off timer inside a Walmart takeout container. Took about 3 weeks to get them to pop.

Cracked seed carefully using vise grip pliers. They work best due to the rounded shape of the pliers not crushing the seed insides.

It did germinate a little faster than the coated seeds maybe by 10 days. I don’t really see a major advantage to doing this over keeping them in the shell.
