10 years of Yatay Mule

Featured Replies

This is the Patric Yatay mule I got back in 2015. It had a real bad spear pull the second year it was in the ground & has since sailed through every freeze & storm since then.

Took out a mandarn tree to make room for it 2015.

Once that thing got a bit of mass to it, it took off.  2019-2022 is hard to believe.

It's slowed down quite a bit now, just getting fatter.

Looks great Todd - I remember that tough winter of 2018 and your successful trunk cut.  I went through the same process that same winter with my Copernicia alba (a first for me).  Not growing nearly as fast but it was dug up and transplanted across the state back in 2022.

What do you estimate the overall height to be?

  • Author

It's over 25 ft tall.

That is very impressive growth. I knew they could grow pretty quickly, but that put on a lot height in just a few years.

Woof. Absolute unit. Is this another one of Patrick's creations?

No. It flowers all year, but never viable seeds.
