Here's one growing in my garden. This is a tropical palm that demands tropical conditions. This has always been one of my favorite palms. Is anyone else growing it and if so, show us yours ? The crotons growing behind it are "Polychrome".

Definitely a great looking palm. I have two of them, right next to each other. I have this close-up shot on file. Will have to go out and take another 'full view' shot later today! :)

I have a small one.I germinated only three seeds out of 12 and have just one that survived.Mine is about two years old now and is in a gallon pot.I am getting some leaf tip burn due to our low humidity this time of year.I cannot wait until mine looks like yours. No picture until I return to the finca.

Very nice... I only have 1 iguanura at the moment, and not sure what it is either... Most of my tags got lost in the move  :( . Planted it yesterday under my temporary shade between 2 big trees - so hopefully it will speed up a bit.

Regards, Ari :)

Eric,

Wow, what a surprise to see you planted it up in the gardens. I would really be interested in knowing it's fate over the next few years. Keep us all posted, please.

Bo,

I would expect nothing short of superb growth and beauty. Has your's started seeding yet? And do you have any other species growing in the ground also?

I have also really liked this palm ever since Clayton, I think, identified it as one of my pictures of an unlabelled palm at Kew.  I liked it even more when I discovered they stay relatively small, so it's definitely on my wanted list.

Here is the picture from Kew, it's the split leaf form, obviously.

Hi Corey

The entire leaf form of Iguanura willichiana is a little more cold tolerant than the split leaf form I think this is due to it’s location, the entire leaf form in some of it locations comes a elevation of about 500m plus and seem to handle temps down to 2degC for short periods of time through our winters and even sets seed quite regally by them selves. it’s very hard to impossible for us to send out small amounts of seed but I will see if Mike can send you some? ???

One last Iguanura elegans; :)

Wow... very nice iguanura, Clayton. Once I have more shades, hopefully I can get more into those.

This is my one and only (at least I think it is Iguanura). It has been in pots for 2 years now... pot bound and very sad. I planted in the ground 2 days ago and hopefully it should do well now.

Regards, Ari :)

Wow, great photos! These are little seen palms.

Jeff, the one here is planted in a warm microclimate. Looks like it will definitely be tested Thurs. night as lows are projected to be 28-29F. Where this is growing should be 5-7 degrees warmer. It is under heavy southern live oak canopy and lots of windbreak.

Thanks Clayton, I appreciate you taking the time.  RPS have them listed, but after poor results with my previous seed order, I am only ordering from the new arrivals in the hope that it improves my success rate.

Gina,

This should fit in very nicely with all the other tropical goodies you have. Take a pic. when you get it planted.

Gene,

They do open up with a new red leaf. Just more beauty when this happens to this already gorgeous palm.

It's a good looking palm. I wonder if they'll make for a good seasonal houseplant?
