Not really a travel log as I’m living here at the moment but I do enjoy seeing the array of palms that are able to be grown here in Cyprus. We’re almost in winter and day time temps are still getting to 25°C daily at 35°N.

Thank you!
How’s that coconut tree going on your balcony? Still thriving?

My friends in Cyprus have some tall Wodyetias in front of their house.. I am so jealous of them. It never gets below zero in lowland Cyprus and most winter days are actually warm. The humidity on the coastal cities is a killer for humans (imagine 42 C and 80% humidity) but I bet palms love it. Dypsis and Wodyetia grow fine there but would struggle here even though in terms of latitude we are so close. People grow coffee and mangoes successfully in Cyprus. I was a soldier in Nicosia and remember wearing T-shirts even on winter mornings. Summer days were always above 40 C.

Thanks Dimitri for asking.
When it was still between 10 and 20 degrees Celsius and above on the balcony, we moved it into the new room.
However, there was a very stormy spell with lots of rain and wind, and it looks like it got too much water and now looks a bit battered, but after checking today, the roots were okay and the fronds are partly dried out. We waited too long, and the protection we put up was torn away by the storm. The storms here are getting more and more extreme, with wind speeds increasing and so much rain falling at once that would normally fall over several days...
We hope it recovers completely...
And how are your projects with the palm trees and yourself in Cyprus going?

Than, how right you are. Also with the fact that it doesn't go below 0 degrees Celsius or even in that direction. Just wonderful for the many palm trees, and I would also like it, as I said, I have a hard time with cold temperatures. And yes, walking around in a T-shirt in winter, even in the morning, brilliant. We knew a soccer player who played in Cyprus. He wasn't Swiss, but he loved it there. However, as I recall, his partner had a hard time with temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius. They then moved back to France, to Brest. Unfortunately, we didn't hear anything more from him and his family, from the soccer community at the time, so to speak, even though we had and have many other interests 😃
