Unfortunately, I can't grow it, but there are plenty of palm trees I can grow, so I'm happy.👌

Did you get it at that place that advertises "palms read"?  😆

Looks great Tyrone - isn't this a palm that you can leave the pot in a saucer of water?

@gyuseppe @Fusca What Tyrone is getting at is that this palm appears as red as C renda, not that it is C renda which doesn’t really look at all like this at this stage of growth.

Tyrone - C baronii ‘Black Petiole’? It’s a beauty! I’ve got 5 in the garden and they vary in colour. Only 2 of mine approach this kind of colour.

Not bad considering that there are states in Australia that are quarantine states. That hold back those growers who would be increasing their collections, because the knowledge of palms these guys have would leave a lot of growers wanting cold weather. Such a government debacle of silliness the import rules with seeds only.

Yeah. You’ve got it Tim. I was cleaning up my batch in the shadehouse and found that one and thought, “who needs a lipstick palm when you can grow that” All of them are very colourful with everything from white to red to black, but that one really sparkled.
Of course I couldn’t grow a real Cyrtostachys in a million years down here. I’m about 2500km too far south.

Thanks Jonathan. Yes I grew that from a batch of RPS seed imported in 2020.

All my Dypsis come Chrysalidocarpus I now grow in a mix of large coir chips, sand, hydroponic clay balls, perlite and a bit of high quality Richgro potting mix fertilised with Osmocote with extra trace elements with a Scott’s product called Micromax. These guys seem to have really loved it. The extra drainage helps in our wet winters.

Thanks Gyuseppe. I believe you could grow this one. It’s actually quite cold tolerant.
