After spotting this palm being advertised on Facebook group “Palm Nutters”,  I contacted the vendor (Cairns) on behalf of Colin Wilson who wanted it for Wollongong botanical garden, NSW.

Paul Latzias and Michael Smith stepped up to inspect the palm last weekend, and were joined by Arden Dearden to salvage her this afternoon.

Massive thanks to Paul, Michael, Arden, Digby (vendor), and of course Colin.

For those of you that frequent Facebook, I’ve set up a group called “Pommy palms”, where many of the palms I’ve seen since emigrating to Australia have been documented. If you wish to be a member, copy and paste “Pommy palms” into Facebook to view the page and click “Join group”.

A good home for such a beast of a palm. Hopefully not too root sensitive , I hope it does well. Harry

Let us know if it survives.  I'm curious if they transplant easy.

Based on our recent experience of transplanting 2 from Darwin to Brisbane’s Mt. Coot-Tha BG, it should be fine. Also the Darwin move was in winter and we are well into spring now. We’ve suggested to Colin that he might want to consider cutting a few more leaves off to reduce stress.

Both top blokes Tim, and completely nuts about palms.
